I have a 200s, the decompression releace cable doesnt work. On this site one time i saw that a different head had an automatic compression releace, i was wondering if that would work and if it were true. Its a 1984 200s.
Also, My motor is missing horribly. I think it timing chain is whacked out wht do you all think? I messed with the valves and what not. I know the carb is ok because the day before it happened it was fine.

sounds like your chain may have skipped. as far as decompression i had a 84 200s and i never used a cable. mine has 10.24:1 compression piston and rings. its a bit hard to pull over sometimes but not bad.

My 185s has an automatic compression release all it is, is a arm that connects to the lever and pulls it when you pull the rope

Thats expensive, almost 100 bucks on ebay. Doesnt the 200e with electric start have an automatic one?

hey us90 just a week or 2 ago i was out riding we stopped and shut them off for a minute to talk and when i went to start mine back up it wouldnt start, it would just backfire when pullin it over, so after trying everything possible, adjusting timing and etc long story short.. i have the auto decompression on my mine(ytm200) and my buddy decided to try to disconnect the auto decompression and it fired right up first pull! come to find out it was stuck and keeping the valves open a little, u might want to try this if your having problems that seem like timing and your auto decompression is messed up...hope it helps,

Its not the initial start thats the pain, its after you've been riding for a few hours at slow speeds and then you shut it off for a few minutes. All the thermal expansion increases the compression. To the point I've snapped pull start handles in two and dislocated fingers.
The Best bang for the buck would be the manual release like on the 200E, Bikebandit still list the part under cylinder head (number 6) at about 35 bucks. Just lift the switch and pull it over. Repeat if it doesnt start. Its an extra step when starting hot, but its works all the time if you use it.
