thats the way the world is, mass hysteria. At my local riding area 3 people have broke their backs or necks since May. ALL OF THEM ON 4 WHEELERS!!!

Sounds like this guy never/doesn't had/have the skills to ride a ATC.

hmmmm now he blew that way out of proportion. i cant believe he said it like that and odds are he never even drove one.

Dammit!

Don't go getting upset about this idiot. He's been trashing trikes for years. Do a search on the forums. You'll see he has been discussed in detail.

Probably because all his girly dirt bike friends would make fun of him if ever caught on one.

Just ignore him, too many people out there that believe everything they hear. ATC's take more than-the-average rider skill (and talent) to be able to ride.
I'm suprised that he rated the YZ490 as a terrible bike. A friend of mine has one, and other than tall and heavy, it seems like it does fine to me.

Yeah he's been saying this for years as far as I can tell. it got me frustrated when I first started reading it, then I started to read some of his other stuff and it all started to make sense. He talks about carbs that are "impossible to jet" and bikes that "wander like a buffalo on steriods", and lots of other stuff like that. he just sounds like someone cant learn to adjust to small differences or things he finds difficult on bikes hes not used too. Which would be strange considering he's an expert on dirtbikes I guess. We all know that a three wheeler doesnt suddenly start trying to tip over above speeds of 20 miles an hour or any speed for that matter, and they handle great too especially later models with full suspension.

I bet he rode a US 90 and ran his leg over, tried to ride a 70 and couldnt make it move, then fell off the back of a 185s trying to pop a wheelie and made his opinions on trikes from then on.

thats why I like to read articles by superjunky on here instead :beer :w00t:

I'd disagree with a few of his picks.

I had an 81 CR 450. I thought it was a good trial bike. The guy I bought it from had been competing in hare scrambles with it.

My 78 IT 175 was by far the worst bike I ever owned. The single shock suspension would pitch you as quickly as the old bikes with dual rear shocks.

In my opinion, three wheelers are the ultimate trail bikes. They are much better in the woods than any dirt bike or 4 wheeler.

All it is people don't know how to ride them !

I Love three wheels - Scary at first but after you get the hang of it .... it's a done deal !

I had a bunch of kids riding ATC 70 they loved it and they even ran their legs over after i told them bunch of times not to put their feet down ... They just kept taking turns - even the injured ones LOL ...

People ask me why i wear MX boots ... when i ride my ATC

Rick "loves" Seimens is a moron! Not only does he love bashing three wheelers -but apparently he loves not knowing what they are - the article is plain as day - top 10 worst dirt bikes! - since when is a 3 wheeler a dirt bike?? This guy has no idea about 3 wheelers - except the fact that his big dumb ass never learned to master one - end of story -

That is by far the biggest steaming fly attracting pile of bulls**t I've ever read! My best friend TJ has been riding dirtbikes and trials bikes his whole life and he's 32. He's the one that scored that sweet T3 off Craigslist that I just posted yesterday, he freakin loves it, and he's never ridden a trike before last week. He's got the addiction so bad now that yesterday he went out and bought an 85 250R also. I'll be posting pics next week as he's still in Denver with it. But I think that is a testament right there to the naysayers. Hell, everyone that knows me, knows I ride FMX on a 03 YZ450F and I have lots of three wheelers, I love em! This guy that wrote the article is just another smug self proclaimed expert! He better watch out for ninjas!

This guy that wrote the article is just another smug self proclaimed expert!

Unfortunately - that self proclaimed expert has been around for many years - actually decades (he is in the "1985 Blackwater Video" that many of us have"- The industry does consider him an expert - it is just so sad that he projects diarrhea from his mouth every time he opens it up regarding three wheelers - also - many of you have prolly never seen the very amusing spoof of this fool here on 3WW. Here's the link - much better, in my opinion, than his BS articles published all over the net.

Thanx ATCTIM, I was wondering what the deal was with the superjunky column, guess you schooled me. Well, I consider TJ to be more of a dirtbike expert then that jackazz, and like i said before, he converted.

I read from the top down, without peaking ahead. He sounded very knowledgeable about the subject until I got to the part that I know a little something about. Then I had to question whether he actually knows anything about the rest.

I can't argue about some about some of the older bikes. Some of them were steaming piles. As far as three wheelers you can't compare a Big Red to a 250R. As a matter of fact you can't compare a pre 85 to a 85 and 86 250R. He may be a great dirt bike rider but he is no three wheeler rider.

I hear it all the time "three wheelers are dangerous". My reply is they are no more dangerous than the idiot riding it. They can sit in the garage collecting dust and will not even hurt a fly. I ask them if they have ever rode a 250R and the reply has always been no.

He can keep spewing dung but we all know better. I have been riding three wheelers for over 20 years and in my opinion they should never have stopped building them.

Yup, the All- Terrain Cycle, or ATC, was introduced by Honda to let people who didn't have the skills to balance a regular two-wheeled bike ride in the dirt.

Since three wheelers were invented for those lacking the skills to ride on two wheels, does that mean that four wheelers were invented for those lacking the skills to ride on three wheels???? :w00t: :w00t:

I'm kinda suprised, I got an email back from him. Here it is:

Well I guess I have to take back what I said about him on the 185s, I think he just had a bad experience with them or something. Thought maybe I could somehow get him to say not all trikes are bad or something.Oh well, I guess theres somethings you just cant change.

Then I can sue when I spill it and burn myself because the cupholder was an "ill-consided" design and not able to contain the spill from the bumps. haha

Richard Sieman:
"was introduced by Honda to let people who didn't have the skills to balance a regular two-wheeled bike ride in the dirt"

Me:
Sounds like you don't have the skills to ride one.

Richard Sieman:
Oddly enough, I have ridden enough of the things to realize that it’s just below crawling when it comes to moving forward.

Me:
Have you ever ridden any of the below?:

1985-86 Honda ATC 250R
1985-86 Honda ATC 350X
1986-87 Kawasaki Tecate
1985-86 Yamaha Tri-Z
