I just got some Tecate's,What do ya think ???

Well I gotta say with all my Honda's in the shop, too look at these Kawi's is deffintaly something new to me.The only green in there before these machine's was my parrot Green us90..Anyway's after seeing T3 Lopes beautiful Tecate last weekend ,I decided maybe i'd try one out and see what all the hype is about.I am gonna need lot's and lot's of info and probably part's from you Kawi guy's on these beater's.I just got 'em last nite,neither of them run ,the complete one is close but the spark is very weak,and I alway's hear you guy's talking about the eletrical's being bad on em'.I did a compression check on them and there both in the 140-150 range.Does that sound good enough? I also got 2 boxes full of spare part's,stuff that is all strange too me ,but there for the Kawi's for sure.What are these machine's worth as is ya figure? I ain't gonna say how much I got them for but I don't think I wasted my money..So what do ya think of my new junker's..I guess I'm gonna do up a Tecate,I just hope it turn's out as nice as Lope's and Swinehart's machine's..The funny thing about me getting these machine's is that I just told Tecat-Z last weekend that I only do Honda's and had no desire to work on other machine's..Hook me up with some info and comment's guy's..:cool:

Yeah ,I would appreciate the stuff we talked about ,just PM me the damage's John.You know I blame you and Lope's for me getting these Tecate's John,If your machine's were'nt so Darn pretty than I would'nt of even thought about getting them,LOL..I think there the '85 model's,they have disk frt and rear,am I correct?

Hey sandpuppy!! Look up tecate on ebay.. There are some new listings for i believe 84-85 tecate parts. You may need some of the items. :TrikesOwn

I haven't posted any pics yet but i picked up a Tecate about 2 mos ago and haven't started on it yet.. Been gathering parts to make it as nice or nicer than the Lopes. Sorry Matt haha. But anyway nice builders and good luck. Keep us posted! :w00t:

Yeah. seeing Lopez's T-3 would make anyone convert. Really nice ride. Hadar, also had some really nice examples. Unfortunately I don't think I got a chance to see Johns. But you certaintly got a smokin deal.:beer

LOL,I don't think I'm converting from my Honda's to the Kawai's by any mean's,but yeah Lope's and John Tecate's are really beautiful machine's,and it will break up the manotney from doing another,REFURBISHED Honda.Yeah we'll see what kind of deal I got when I look at the money going into them though.

Well I got a package in today on the Green Machine's,Lot's of goodies.I also could'nt resist to put my other project on tempory hold for the afternoon either.I got the nicer of the pair running,It was at a pretty high Rev.but I got into 2nd gear and it seemed to shift fine.I was just poking on the thing for a bit,checking some thing's over.I am probably gonna make it one of those winter project's!Who know's Though..

Are you going to try to keep it mostly like it was from the factory or are you going to customize it?

I think it would be cool if you tried to figure out a way to put a honda axle in the rear carrier with the right size bearings.

Another member here said this about the 86 carrier:

"Look for an extended 400ex axle. I put a RPM Dominator axle in my tecate bearing carrier. I used a 350x brake disc hub and axle nut. I also modified an 84 T3 brake disc to work. You will need to space out your brake caliper if you do this."

I may also have some parts if you need something. I am still working on the wobbling front end of my 84.
