As some of you may or may not know, i have a complete rear end from an 05 450r on my 86r, i love it except for one thing, it sits a cpl inces lower than a stock r, this is my only complaint. I have a spare linkage set and was thinking of lengthening? the link to make it sit higher, anyone know if i can do this? Lengthening will make it sit higher correct?

if you shorten it, you will increase the hight,

if you shorten it, you will increase the hight,

Exactly, honda's work opposite because of the linkage setup, so the shorter the higher ;)

yamaha is the same,,longer the lower,, shorter the higher

what you need to do is put a jack under the bike and put it where you want it. then mesure from eye to eye for the correct length

Thanks guys, well i popped out the bolt in the link that connects to the swinger and then juggled a tape to get it to the same height as my 500, if anyone else has this set up and has the same problem, ive come up with 3/4 inch. I have a spare link that i am going to cut and weld, we will see how acurate it comes out.

Tried shortening the link, it didnt work. The link is made of some crap that wont weld. I had a pro welder-fabricater of 40 years try it with no luck. Guess im gonna have to get a stick of alluminum and machine one up.

What about buying an aftermarket one?

I thought the aftermarket ones were made to go from stock to -2. Do they make any to gain height?

Different welder? I dont think so,..the guy who tried it has been around for a long time and has done it all and then some. People travel from all over New england to see him because he is the best around. If you think it can be done i will gladly send it to you!

Actually now that I think about it those are for lowering.. The one on my bike is off a tecate that my old man had form YEARS ago haha

See my bike sits up like a dune runner which I like the stance, kills a little on the traction but I lean back on it hehe
