84 Tecate Teardown

I almost have it ready for the powdercoater. I need a few suggestions on removing the inner race on the steering stem and the races pressed into the head pipe?

Steering stem is easy, just get a long punch, lay the neck up on a solid surface and whack it with a hammer. Really just moderate hits all around the race until it comes out. May take harder hits to start it moving.

Races pressed onto the headpipe? I'm confused, there aren't any. Is this your first Tecate? What may look like a race on the headpipe is a collar, actually two of them with a narrow space between. The collars don't move, they're part of the pipe. The space between them is for an o-ring to help seal the pipe to the head. That is, unless you have something I've never seen before. Yeah thats a Westcoast. I'm talking about the races on the steering stem itself and the inner races on the piece of the frame the steering stem slides into. There is no edge on the races to catch something to bang it out with.
