I just brought my 3 wheeler home today! I had taken apart and cleaned out the carb, air cleaner, fuel screen in the fuel tank and put it back together. After a few kicks it started.
I tried to put it in 1st and ride it but, it died. After inspecting the clutch cable, I found out that it can not be adjusted it's frayed.
Is this a specialty part or should it match another Honda and work on this one (1984 250r)?
A friend got the 3 wheeler going to take it for a test drive and found out that the brakes didn't work. We looked at it and found oil, grease(?) on the rotors. I checked the brake fluid level on both front and back and there is plenty.
What do I need to be looking at to fix this?

Thanks!

denatured alcohol or brake cleaner on the rotors - you may want to take the pads off and clean them too as the oil on them will glaze / ruin them. I have lightly sanded (220-320 grit) pads that were glazed before to get rid of contamination. before you drop the calipers hit the brakes and see if the pads pinch the rotor. if not your looking at calipers.

with fluid on everything sounds like some r**s*** tried to bleed them and failed.

welcome to 3WW

or they might have lubed them to prevent rusting during storage.

Thanks for the replies!
I have found online 2 places that have clutch cables for under $20.00. I'm going to call around town this AM to see what they got.
I didn't see any disc pads. Are these Honda only items? Where can I find them?

Pads are easy to find. Dennis Kirk, Rocky Mountain ATV, or any Oreilly Auto parts store. We just started stocking them. If your local Oreillys does not keep them, tell them to call store 1318 and ask for Jim. I will give them the part # to order.

Whiteman350x, I have never heard of a Oreillys parts store before.
I have Kragen and Auto zone. Could it be at on of these?
I also have a Honda, Kawaski, and Poleris Dealers.
Would the Auto stores have them and at a better price, or should I roll over and try one of the Bike Deals?

Thanks

I was able to locate and order a clutch cable at a local bike store. Under $11 and that's including tax
I checked the front brake and it's holding just fine. The rear appears to only need adjusting. I will get to this later today (right after i finish painting my Daughter's room Pink!) Oh boy!
