View Full Version : 3 Wheelers on a TV show

ok, we got them in magazines. now what about at least getting them mentioned on a tv show? we could do it on something like the "motocross files", "epic ride" or something. even if it was for 2 minutes, just a brief history of 3 wheelers would be cool. Later on they could interview the racers - if they were up to it, bring some publicity to the sport, mention 3wheelerworld, get some new riders, and maybe even make 3 wheelers seem less bad to people. later on if it really catches on they could give info on the bikes, the history, restore them, give tips, cover trikefest, cover races, etc. i know it is a very very very very long shot and will be very hard, but if enough people write in, we just might get 3 wheelers mentioned - even for 1 minute. Imagine watching “trike time” or something like that from 9:00 - 9:10 every Friday night. i think it would be cool. what do you guys think? good idea? bad? thoughts? comments?

That would be cool. But like you said....that would be very difficult. I think it would be easiest if we somehow got mentioned on a ATV riding show or something. You know how on car programs like "My classic car" or "Trucks" they will have a piece that covers a car show or a 4 wheeling event....maybe they cover trike fest or something. That would be sweet. But once again....it wouldnt be easy.

Actually I don't think it would be that difficult. Just wish it had been mentioned before Trike Fest. Trike Fest is a large enough event to get a show such as Fisher's ATV world, or ATV Illustrated to come by and check out. We should definatelty toy with this idea more next year before TF, instead of just sending emails to mags only, we could throw a couple towards the tv shows as well.
On a side note, was watching a show called country fried home vidoes the other night and saw a guy flip a big red out of the back of his truck, and another guy on a 87 Tecate 4 stuck in a mud hole. Was pretty cool.

The one thing that concerns me is parts availibility. I dont want to sound greedy, but if a whole whooping amount of people decide to get into triking, demand goes through the roof pulling prices with it.
Im all about more coverage, this point is just something else that pops into my head when I think about the 500-1000 people that might hop on ebay to look for 250r's.
Im just going to continue on with my plan, collect as many trikes as I can before prices get worse.

and rememeber those 500-1000 people may not know how to ride. and we will have the 1980's all over again

It would be nice to get more coverage. It WOULD open more doors at some tracks, and riding areas if we were a stornger force.
For this years TF we did get into a few different magazines thanks to some people like Billy calling on the masses to step up.
A big event like TF is what we really need to get attention. Next year we should start early and really drive it home.

thats a good point if we get more people into 3 wheelers, the price of normal parts would probably double or triple and hard to find parts would be impossible to find. but i would rather see more people in the sport finding, restoring, and parting trikes, rather then knowing that some are sitting outside just rusting away not being used.

true, that very well may happen but im thinking that most would want a quad. but if that does happen and everyone starts suing everyone because the bike killed their son that was riding triple, backwards, at night, drunk, with no lights or shoes, on a public highway. then the CPSC will do something and we will be right back where we started.

Ya know why does it ALWAYS have to JUST be about 3WHEELERWORLD? You all talk of uniting the masses and all any of you come up with is trikesfest, and 3ww. what about .ORG and 350Xriders, and sites dedicated to atc 70's. you B*tch that you want more media attention and more respect then you all end up complaining that ohh it will be the 80's again with the cpsc or what ever. and the prices for readily available and inexpensive parts will skyrocket. but did you ever think maybe company's would produce parts again if there was a demand? or maybe more trikes would be dug out of sheds garages and barns and overgrown fields? I may get banned for this BUT YOU ARE A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES!!!

You need to slow you role man.
I have mixed feelings about the situation, when it comes down to it media attention always wins in my book. If there was a boom in trike enthusiasts, prices would go up. That gets on my nerves because money DOSENT grow on any of my trees, but I am interested in more coverage, so I will deal with it!!!!
It takes a bit of a large event to get some attention. No magazine or TV show wants to hear about Joe Schmoe on his 200x crossing a creek. TF is always brought up in a situation like this because its an event that draws attention. When theres 300+ trikers that get togethere its a little harder for the magazine editors to just throw the letter out. Theres other things like the flat track races in Florida, or the OTC tearin it up in Ohio, if you havent noticed those guys get into magazines quit a bit!!!!!
Billy reguarlly (from my knowledge) writes to magazines and what not informing them about events like the races he participates in. Im pretty sure Ive seen him in at least one article, as well as Alan with the races they participate in.
Hers a nice little post started on .org.

This is a GREAT idea, its just lost steam in the past month.
There are great ideas flowing through, you just have to expect that on an online community with over 7000 members your GOING to hear every side of the story.
On the same note, we need to organize a little better. I was involved in the .org thread, and Im ready and willing to do my part here in Missouri. A lot of tracks dont want us, as well as a lot of riding areas. Just because I can still ride here in Missouri dosent mean that something wont happen in the near future.
So why dont we come up with some ideas as apose to SCREAMING at eachother!!!!!

We talk about this site because we belong to this site. On here it IS about TF, because it belongs to us. If you want more coverage for other sites, then please, feel free to call or write magazines about those as well. I have been to many other sites and was not impressed. I have been coming to this site since it's start, even back in the day when it was on angelfire, Though I didn't join for quite some time. We love and talk about this site because it is the best, most informitave site on the net. Period.

I like the trike community small. If 3-wheelers became mainstream again, the 'cool' factor would be gone. The people who love the trikes tend to be older, indepenent, conservative and laid-back individuals. Emotional types tend to weed themselves out, so don't fret about being banned.

Somebody needs a hug:lol: But seriously tho, if someone wrecks once on their trike, it is what they'll show a huge clip or picture of everytime. There will always be a stigma about the machines we so stubbornly refuse to stop riding. Did anyone see the latest issue of QUAD magazine? They did a full article about 5 pages long of three wheelers and it was awesome until the last page. They just had to show time lapse photos of a guy doing a ninjaflop off his trike and into the dirt! They never seem to show this with quads, need I say more?
