Hey guys what engines will fit into a 1985 atc70? I know with enough money, time, and tools you can make alot of engines fit, like aircooled R motors for instance  but what fits with less work? What about these new lifan engines? are trx70 engines the same? I just picked up this 70 that doesnt even run yet and im already looking to "upgrade"

I put a Lifan 125 in mine with minimal effort. The biggest hassle was dealing with the rear kicker.

hey you live in indiana dont ya misterfurious? Does the 125 get it pretty good or is it not worth the hassle? Does the wiring all interchange or did you have to "make it work"? My neighbor has a couple new crf50's so i'm sure we'll be racing each other in no time  He's making one of the crf's more into a "race" bike just to mess around on. I think he rides them more than his kid does

Yeah, I live over in Millersburg. The Lifan is great! I had to rake the forks about an inch to clear the motor. The wiring is pretty simple once you figure out which ones to splice together. You can't use the stock air cleaner and I had to dent the under side of the tank where it fits over the frame tube to clear the carb. I also had to splice the Lifan shifter with the stock 70 to lengthen it; the Lifan one only reaches about 3 inches past the footpeg. It goes like a raped ape; I weigh 250 and it will do 45 with me on it. Any time you want to come check it out let me know.

throw in a pitbike engine, take a look at some gpxs, you could get a bigbore motor and really make that 70 scream if you have the cash, for a high power option you could end up spending over 400, but if you want to go that route let me know, i know where the engines are and what upgrades you would need

Lifan will bolt up, if you get one with electric start, the battery can be made to fit inside the frame and no issues with kick start. Glamisdunes.com is the place to be for 70 info, or just ask. Make sure you get one with the starter on the bottom. The pics are of one I did with a Lifan Elec. start, 4 spd manual clutch. :naughty: TRX 70 motor will fit but its a CDI ignition motor so get the wiring for it, 79-82 ATC motor sare 3 speeds, 83-84 are 4 sp down shift motors and the 85 was 4spd upshift motor. Stay away from the 73-74 motors there are some internal differences and the pull start assy and side covers are different.

hey blue, is that a 110 or 125? Whats the best deal you've found on those lifan motors? I checked dr atv and they have LOTS of cheap parts but the engines seem high compared to ebay but they might be different, i'm still "learning" .

i tryed logging in to the glamis website but it doesnt want to work tonight. I was on there a little bit lastnight but didnt get to look around much so i have a bunch of questions i'll post here.
-Has anyone put one of the 138 oil cooled lifans in a 70 yet?
-Is the 125 much better than a 110? (both lifans)
-If i were to use a 125 lifan could i use the kickstart or would it hit the fenders? I have read about the trx70 sidecase/pullstart swap already.
-Do all the lifans with kick starts kick backwards?
- as far as the lifan engines go will all the "horizontal" "crf" type motors bolt right into a 70?
I feel like this is my first post with all these questions
