I just bought a 1983 Honda Atc 200x and the swing arm bearings are in really bad shape, but I cant get the bolt out that connects the swing arm to the frame. I loosened the chain tensioners and even tried putting a 2x4 against the bolt and banging it out with a hammer but it wont even budge. Is there any trick to getting that bolt out? Any help would be appreciated!

My trick was unintentional, my bolt was loose and i rode it around for a day or so and the swingarm bolt broke free and came out just by pulling it. If you try this make sure to not beat on it hard or else the bushings might break. Maybe even just rocking it side to side.

my luck with getting them out has been alot worse. 4 of them had to have the bolts cut . 3 of them I did by spreading the frame and swinger apart, getting a sawazal in there and cutting the bolt, the other one, the swinger became a victom also.

This is what I had to do as well. Try soaking it with PB Blaster for a day or two and see if it breaks loose. Try not to mushroon the ends of the bolt. If I remember correctly there's a steel collar in there that becomes rusted to the bolt.

If that dont work get yourself a swinger bearing kit from Dads here on the forums,, a few extra sawzall blades,,, and a used bolt off someone here or ebay.

hey, drill a hole in the swinger, pump it full of atf. put air pressure to it, leave the nut loose, and drive it around to break it loose.

most likely you gonna screw your bold up so after you get it out your gonna need a new bolt.

I think ill try heating it with a torch and banging on it some more and if that doesnt work ill just have to cut it out!! Thanks for the input guys.
