Ok, I picked up a 350x carb from Dammit and put it on my 250sx but before doing so I put the sx jets in it because Ive read so many posts about it running rich if you dont have other mods. I do have a new Uni and run with the ab lid off but thats it for now.

The Bike now has to have the choke on 1/3 of the way to idle and run right. I was told on a different forum that it sounded like I was running lean. Im a bit confused about what I should do at this point. Should I put the stock 350x jets back in or is there another step that Im missing??

I am new at this whole thing, every bike I have owned I have left stock so I apologize for sounding like a noob.

Do a plug chop. If it is still lean throw the 350x jets in and do a chop. The sx will run alright with the X jets, just a bit richer than most like.

I would pull up the needle one clip setting. If your idle slowly dies down and cuts out, bump up your pilot jet up a size.

You need to read the jetting sticky. Odds are you need to be somewhere between the 350x and 250sx jet sizes. Nobody can tell you what it needs over the internet. You just have to know how it works. Once you got that figured out, finding the right jet size isn't too difficult.

Well the jetting sticky is awesome, it helped a noob like me get pretty damn close to where I need to be. It turns out that I had to put all the 350x jets back in put my ab lid back on and turn the pilot screw in 2 full turns. Everything is good other then throttle response. I have to nurse it just a tad right at the beginning but from there on I have great response. Im able to pull wheelies going into third now which I think is pretty good for a otherwise stock sx.

Thanks for the info Dammit it was very helpful.

In 2 turns? Where the heck was it set at? Most of them are 1.5 to 2 turns out from bottomed....

thats what I read in the manual was 1.5 to 2 turns out but when I twisted it in until it was seated it was a little over 4 out. So I unscrewed it 2 full turns and it worked in addition to the other things I did.
