Well, I'm grasping at straws and am going to replace my left hand crank seal Saturday. I'm fighting a lean surge condition at idle. I got my seal but the clutch cover gasket isn't right. Has anyone did away with the gasket and used some silicon rubber or locktite make a gasket aneroibic sealer? Is there any clearance problems doing away with the gasket other then maybe shimming the front motor mount? The gasket I did recieve is the split case gasket. I don't see how that gasket would leak vacuum without sucking in some trans oil (the seal I'm replacing is also in the trans area) or if on the bottom of the engine it would leak oil from the crankcase big time and I know there's an accumulation of oil in the bottom of my crankcase when I did the topend rebuild. I will also be doing a pressure check Saturday before replacing the seal to make sure nothing else is leaking.

Did the pressure check today. Used a cooling pressure tester with bladder stuck in the exhaust port and a softplug where the carb goes. Couldn't get a perfect seal on the bladder on the tester but couldn't find any leaks after I got the softplug sealed good. Found out the reeds seal good. The softplug popped out a few times. I'm not going to replace the seal yet. I'll run it a while and if it seizes a piston I'll have to do a complete rebuild anyway and will then reseal everything. I will add some oil to the Unifilter to richen up the mixture somewhat. The thread on the swingarm bolt seizing worries me as I believe one has to remove that bolt in order to gain enough room to remove engine.
