Hey all, I'm pretty new to 3 wheeling, but my friend had a couple for a while but had to sell them. We recently, as in last week, bought 2 honda 200s's. $150 each, the guy must have not wanted them lol.

Anyways, after taking pretty much everything apart, here is the list of parts I need. I also have a few questions as to what I'm doing.

I need:

exhaust/header
front tire
Rear brake thing? - read below
seat
right rear fender
air filter

Wow big list right? LoL.
What is a good exhaust to go for that sounds nice and won't break the bank? We are going to be trailriding. Where should I go to get a new front tire?

Also, my rear axle seemed a little "loose". I took the brake cover off and noticed it was missing a bearing or something. I think that may be the reason why the rear axle isnt stable. I will take some pics to show what I mean today.

I was looking around on ebay alot lately. What other years and models will fit my 1984 200s? I see alot of 200X parts, but do those match up at all? Like fenders and whatnot?

Thanks, Im a noob lol.

:welcome:
heres your exhausts: http://denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/MMYSkuDisplay.jsp;jsessionid=E0VRUKFHUUQYBLA0WTVSM 4VMDK0NCIV0?leafCatId=10901&catId=109&store=Main&mmyId=7225 i would go with the dg because i have heard better things about them then cobra.
heres the plastic: http://www.maier-mfg.com/shop.cfm?action=list&page=list.cfm&criteria=101&makeid=10&modelid=149&modelyear=1984
try looking around denniskirk.com (http://denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/mmy.jsp?store=Main&catId=1&make=24&model=1060&year=1984&redirect=true&exec=true&add=true&_requestid=1278544), and www.bikebandit.com. shop around too, to get a better deal. i think most of the parts of the atc 200's (plain 200/m/e/es etc.) are interchangeable, but not the 200x parts, but im not 100% sure, so check with other people before.
post a wtb add in the classifieds (http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14), and shop around on ebay.

Ok. Ive been doing alot of looking around and researching.

Few more questions..
Will this brake dust cover seal fit my 84 200s? Its from an 86 200s.

Also, when I was taking off the exhaust the clamp to hold it to the header assembly was rusted and fell right off. Now if I get a different muffler, like a DG, will I need to buy a clamp? Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1986-Honda-200S-ATC-exhaust-clamp_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43977QQihZ017QQit emZ270003098829QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

ok your tire 22x11x8 any tire will work.

as for exhaust you can find a stock one on ebay allot. or buy a dg or cobra from dennis kirk.

if you axle has allot of play it is more than likely bearings. here is the list of machines that the bearings fit.

83-85 110 atc
84-85 125m atc
83 185s atc
83 200 atc
83 200e atc
84-85 200m atc
84-86 200s atc
83-87 200x atc
83-84 250R atc
85-86 125m trx
86 250sx trx
88-91 nt650 bike

the seat only fits 84-85 200s. i may have a right fender around here for ya. im not sure though.as for the air filter... you can get a uni or moose or something of that sort. the head pipe off a 185s, 200, and 200s are the same exact thing.

welcome to 3ww man

Ok. The frame is a little rusty in spots. Should I just wire brush the rust, and then get some spray paint or what?

Also, what would be good to clean the engine up.

And last but not least, I need some pointers for getting the rear brake assembly off. I can get the first cover off, but I am having trouble with the 2 nuts on the axle. Any tips?

Thanks for your responses so far!

for low budget, fast rust removal i sanded some parts of rust on my bike with sand paper, then spray painted them, it works ok.

to clean the engine, it depends how bad it is, if its really greasy and dirty, use brake clean, but it will take paint off. if its somewhat dirty and greasy i used fireplace cleaner (dont ask), if its just a little dirty, scrub it with soap and water, and power wash it.

the 2 nuts on the axle are they rusted on, or what? if so soak them with pb blaster, and hit them with a rubber hammer, or put a wrench on them and hit the wrench with a metal hammer, if its really bad i guess you could heat it up:wondering, just keep trying. keep us updated.

1 5/16 wrench will fit them surprisingly. Its a little big but not enough where it doesn't get a good bite.

Ok I'll try that. I picked up some PB blaster from my dad. Hopefully be able to work on it tomorrow a bit and take some pics so guys see what I have to work with =P.

Thanks for the help so far.

I just finished doing rear brakes on my 200S yesterday. I faced the same problems as you. Unfortunately getting the two nuts off is the easy part. Wait until you try to get the brake drum off!!!! My was rusted/frozen on the splines pretty good. I soaked it with PB Blaster for 2 days to no avail. I was then told by a helpfull fellow #3 wheelerworld member to remove the chaincase cover and then remove the chain, the big retainer ring holding the sprocket carrier on and then remove the sprocket and carrier. Then grab the big hammer and a peice of 2x4 and whack the axle from the brake side and it will break the brake drum loose so you can get it off. I did this yesterday and it worked perfectly. I then used alot of antiseize compound when reassembling to help the next guy that takes this apart. Also make sure to run your rear brake adjusters all the way out so the shoes release from the drum. Also when reinstalling the brake drum make sure to clean the drum braking surface so there is no lip on it or else when you put the new shoes on the brake drum will not fit. I did this with an air grinder and a sanding wheel and it worked perfectly. To remove the axle nuts I put a pair of wrenches on them and then hit the outer one with a metal hammer and shocked it loose and then the inner one came loose pretty easy after that. Also if you want to clean up your axles to get them to shine again after I put everything back together and before I put the wheels on I started the motor and clicked it into gear and slowly turn the axles with the trike on the stand and ran a peice of emory cloth over the axles and now they shine like new!!! Kind of like a homemade lathe! LOL.......Good luck and keep us posted.
