Hi... Just joined this forum while i was looking for the U joint assembly for my dx. Mine grenaded pretty bad, nothing salvagable in the joint. So it looks like I have to buy both yokes and the u joint. Any ideas on where to find one?

I work at a machine shop, I can build both yokes minus the internal splining - which would require a special broach - very expensive.

Ive searched ebay. nothing.
Ive been to the local spicer shop. - they could make one... for about 500 bucks.
Ive searched forums - no readily available info there.
Ive been to bike bandit. I would have 500 bucks in it there also.

Are there any interchangable assemblies from other bikes that anyone knows of?
Does anyone have one laying around?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the spline portion is still good, you could Cut ti to fit a similiar yoke assembliy.

Did something similiar with a ford transmission to a suzuki samurai t-case

Get a dirtwheels magazine and go to the ads in the back. There are probably 20 salvage yards for Atv's,that would have a complete replacement part for around 100-150 bucks.
Try East Coast Atv
or Cycles-R-Us.
They both have adds in the magazine and a good selection of trike parts.

I'd think that there have to be numerous used ones out there.

It's probably hardened steel so I don't think it is easily welded to whatever you can make up, unless it can be annealed.

If you can make the rest, I wonder if you could try machining 2 .1875 keys 180 degrees apart or something similar? I would have a press fit on the inner shaft and a slip fit on the outer.

Of course splines are stronger but I've seen lots of machinery having just one key turning some big heavy masses along with repetitive starting and stopping.... Just a thought.

i might be able to get ahold of an entire assembly minus some needle bearings and one yoke (i dont have the yoke that bolts on the motor, but i have the one for the driveshaft). PM me if your interested and i'll try to find everything.
