i have an old Emler "porcupine" head laying around for my 84 250R.

it appears to be usable, i am going to have a machine shop check it for warpage, but if it is good, would it be worth putting on over a stock head? i have the motor apart anyways for the crank.
What would eb the advantages to using this aftermarket head?

I think Jimmy White used one before he got his factory ride with Kaw. Oh ,I just remember Elmer was his mechanic and sponsor. Ah! it was "Roost Factor". Thats who had that head, suppose to be like the "DG" Golden Head. Higher compression and fins were to let it cool better.

so then definitely worth using if it is usable. correct?

Yes, use it. You will have to rejet the carb too. Up couple of main sizes and lower the needle one. Use 93 octain or higher gas. not over 100.

really stupid question...but......
can you detail a little better on what i need to do to rejet it?

i can pull apart, rebuild, clean, restore, dis and re assemble anything, but im way new to the whole Soup-Up-the-Atv area.......

so your saying, get like a size or 2 larger (more fuel) main jet, and take the main needle (big one attached to slide) and lower its position in the carb (less fuel)
Or is it get a slightly smaller needle(attached to the slide) equaling more fuel?

my main needle is already leaned way out cause it was running rish as balls, fouling plugs in 10 minutes. couldnt i just richen it back up?

if i put it all back together and it runs fine, will i still need to rejet? how will i know i need to rejet?

the thing is not stock anywhere, so i dont want to get the wrong stuff and find out the idiot before me had the right stuff on it.
