I found a good deal on a 2000 rm 250 expansion chamber.. I have a 1981 rm 250 that badly needs a pipe and i dont have the funds to buy a brand repalcement. i was gonna get one off of ebay but this deal came up...plus i like the looks of the newer pipes. Will it be hard to put it on my bike and is there a reason its shouldnt be done? Thx in advance

81' to 00' is lightyears apart in MX dirtbike years. I'd guess it would take extensive mods to fit the pipe. If you've got the fabrication equipment and skills to do it you might as well repair what you have. And if you'd need to pay someone else to do the mods, I'd still just repair the pipe you've already got. Even if you could get it to fit, who's to say the tuned length of a 00' pipe will be appropriate for the port timings of your 81'? Could be a whole lot of work for a pipe that won't even work well with your engine.

If it were me, I wouldn't bother trying to do it unless you plan on doing the fab work yourself and can get the 00' pipe for next to nothing.

You need to buy a DG like i told ya, or get a used stocker. 19 years age differance from 81 to 00, design is totaly different. own up and spend the coin, if ya wanna play with this old crap ya gotta pay.
