well everyone my lil brother is stepping into the 3 wheeler game. he just picked up a ALT50 for 50 bucks. it has some kind of weird gas tank and no rear plastic. its missing the pull start and the exhaust. im going to post new pics shortly. ill also post some pics of my clean 200x that is still in the works.

i was wondering if there is any rareity to these little 3 wheelers? is there any performance parts? there is 1 funny thing about this alt. it has a dirtbike tire and rim for the front:lol:    my brother couldnt resist getting it. i love the lil thing. i cant wait to start putting it back together. im still trying to load software to put pictures up on my new computer. old one took a crap after 6 years.

I have only done 3 things to my sons and you can definately tell the difference. 1 I got some of that UNI filter brand filter squares and cut him a filter that just fits into the stock so called filter. 2 I got him some wheel spacers off ebay and 3 I bought an FMF turbine core2 pipe( for an 87 lt50). I had to take off the chain guard and trim it also had to take off and trim the heat shield and finnally had to put the pipe (the U bend) in a vice and bend it out slightly. from there just had to shim it to bolt on. And dang does that thing scoot not to mention sounds cool as all get out.

the solid one piece wheel on the front was a wheelbarrow wheel I believe. Not the greatest. I found the correct wheel and hub on fleabay a while back and need to get it powdercoated for him.
Graydon proline makes a sweet pipe for the LT50 that will bolt on. We had one on the oldest sons flat-tracker.

here are more pics of the ALT. And a couple of the LT while it was being built for pipe reference.

The outer heat shield on the left side needs to be cut (just behind where the plastic fender starts) and shimmed on top of the recoil starter cover. the chain gaurd gets trimmed the top outer rear edge just to stay away from the exhaust. Then the pipe gets shimmed out about 1 1/2" from the original mount. As far as the filter just pop the end with all the holes in it off an cut some filter material to fit. Hope it helps - Brock

no doubt. that kid is gonna be a really good rider someday. thanks u guys for the pictures. i have a some what idea on how im going to build this thing. first i have to get the motor running. it has compression and spark so i know i can get it running. BTW is it 2 stroke? for now tho im going to take the motor off and sand everything and build it back up.

Yeah the ALT (like the LT) 50 is a two-stroke with a single-speed centrifugal clutch tranny.

If you look close at mine you can se "briggs and stratin"   also I recommend bypassing that oil injector, getting rid of the oil resi and just premixing your fuel.

i wonder how hard it would be to fabricate a expansion chamber. also thinking about bigger piston, not sure what kinda compression tho. does anyone think a machine shop would make a lightened piston rod? i thought about calling one but there closed.

These beasts have right at 6.5:1 compression. My sons head has been shaved .045" and the "piggyback pilot jet" was removed from the carb. His is currently sporting a 72.5 main jet with 32:1 87 octane pump gas. I removed the pre-mix as well and use synthetic mix oil. Not any difference noted at all with going to a bigger bore. Lightning the connecting rod will not benifit these little machines. It may even hinder. IMO
It has enough power that my 280 pound arse can ride it on the flats and small hills

thanks, that helps. i wasnt sure if i was gonna be able to ride it cause of my weight. i was going to get pictures but it seems my brother is the only one with a camra phone and he is at work. i have already removed the motor cause im getting it preped for a total rebuild. between having my 200x tore apart and this lil 50 i have parts everywhere. i have desided im going to leave the 50 dirtbike front wheel. it looks cool and plus its lighter. with maier plastics it should really set it off. i also thought about having the rear end redesigned to a small shock and a swing arm. that is just a idea. i have 20 bucks to buy sand paper and paint, hopefully i can finish tearing the 50 apart and sand and repaint the frame. im going with high temp. crome and black paint to do the frame and forks. i was thinking about using house of kolor paint. i have always used it and had no problems. if possible i will get pictures tomorrow.:TrikesOwn

if you want the front wheel and axle assembly that is painted black (without the tire) you can have it for the cost of shipping. Prolly around $12.00

I'll do some digging today and find out. Whatever is left over, you can have, just pay shipping on it. I'll let you know tonight what I've found.
