I have an old 200x swingarm that got ruined by a broken bushing and was wondering if it was fixable. On the left side where the bushing goes in, the swingarm bolt must have came loose at one point and the bushing smashed off the swingarm until the swingarm broke? Well I have a new bushing and was thinking about dremeling out the aread and tack welding the bushing in place so there would be no play at all? Would there be any problems with this??? Also where the part where the dust cap rubs up against the frame, it has worn down and has a little space between there, would putting a small spacer between there hurt anything? thanks

So you're suggesting permanently welding the bushing into place in the swingarm? I think that'll cause nothing but trouble, it'll wear on your swingarm bolt and potentially ruin it.

It wouldnt rub on the bolt, it would rub on the collar. But anyway, I could just grind it off very easy with a dremel. Its already chewed up anyway so I dont see why not? The only real concern i was thinking about was the weld holding. And the collar is suppose to rub on the bushing im pretty sure, besides bushings are cheap anyway? With some grease and hopefully no dirt I think it would last until the bushings need replaced. But I have a whole new swingarm anyway, I just wanted to see if this would be fixable.

Maybe I didn't understand what you meant. Wanna draw up a diagram in MS Paint or something? Just don't save it as a BMP file, save as a JPEG, they're smaller in size.

I think it does.

no, the bushing does not rotate. The collar rotates inside of the bushing and the internal pin bearings. The bushings and pivot bearings inside are flush. If you keep them greased it would be fine. Thats what the dust caps are used for, to keep the dirt out of the bearings. But yeah.. heres my diagram:

Well it just got welded, It sure isnt pretty but the bushing holds good so far. I regreased everything and it all seems to roll smoothly.

its a bearing not a bushing

He's not talking about the needle bearing, he's referring to the collar that butts up next to it in between the needle bearing and the dust cover.

a tack weld wont hold.....needs to be a full on weld. make sure the bushing and swingarm are the same material or you will be plagued with CLUSTERF&*C

hello
im in the same boat on my build im gonna weld the bushing in my arm also.
to top it off im not even running bearings in my swing arm and it works fine im sure i will have some problems later or maybe not but for now its fine. the bushins only cost 10 dollars but the shaft collar goes for 30 so grease it up good.

Looks like I need a new collar. I put everything on and got it all greased up and it still moves around. I might just need a spacer between the dust seals and frame though since I had to grind down the origional bushing.
