Hows it going guys, well my ma called me up the other night and said "I just passed a old honda for free" so obviously I told her to snatch it up. Its a 83 Honda 185s,well I took the carb apart and found it was filthy, everything else looked almost new. Changed the oil it had gas in it, put it all back together and with one pull it started right up. Adjusted the idol and it ran perfect...for two days. When it runs it works great the engine runs clean no clanks or anything, but after the two days there was gas in the oil again and it seems like it keeps flooding. I'm not quite sure whats up, it runs and than bogs down like its not getting gas. Any suggestions on what it sound like to you guys?

Gas in the oil would mean it's flooding out really bad, enough to leak into the cylinder and down through the rings. Check your needle and seat.

IDK Man I have a 1983 atc 70 and I cleaned the carb about 10 times then cleaned the jets and it started but wont idle and when I sealed my gas tank I sealed 1 of the pipes running off the tank so I only had gas in one of my gas lines. Today I unclogged it and now I see I have gas in both of my gas lines. But I have gas fouled plugs then I burn them and sand them clean and when I push start it will not fire up and the plug is soaked in gas so im buying new plugs tommorrow and seeing if it will run good and not bogg down and carbon/gas foul my plugs.

Re-build the Carb with a Carb Kit , Buy a new air filter ,New Spark Plug ....
did you change the Oil Filter ?
Post some Pictures !!!
could have worn rings as well, enought to let the flooded carb pass all the gas through, most likely your float needle seat is sticking, also you can get a new chinesse honda carb knockoff from ebay cheap and they help since there all new components

ok, I took the carb apart again. Last time my brother took it apart and forgot a part and he screwed the pilot screw all the way in. Now heres my issues, before I could only start it in choke, now I can start it in all three positions. I tested all the electrical like the pulse generator and the cdi ect. all read out good. checked the spark plug and the tip is tan which in the manual it says its operating normaly. Well I can start it up in choke and let it warm up but as soon as I put it in 3/4 or no choke I need to hit the gas or it dies. I know I need to adjust the idle and the pilot screw but I cant get it to stay running without the choke? What might that be????

are you sure you know which way choke is? I did this backwards for a while and got really upset :)
is your airbox on? sounds lean. try raising your needle or richening your pilot screw

well I need to readjust my pilot screw but I cant get it to run without the choke to adjust it. It runs great but as soon as I shut the choke off it dies. I'm just not sure what to do now?

Take that carb back off, thouroughly clean it, taking everything apart. Sounds like your getting crap in there, put a inline fuel filter in after you take the tank off and clean that too.

I'll get a carb rebuild kit and see how that goes.
