Hey guys, glad to be here, Do I need a special socket to get the flywheel off a honda 200? put new piston and rings in. it ran before but smoked really bad when I took it apart noticed that I had a lot of slack in my timing chain. ordered a new one, so while i was waiting for it to come in, I thought I would set the timimg and just see if it would run. pull rope, got it to hit a couple of times but will not run. I don't have a socket to get the fly wheel nut off. thanks joe

Hey guys, I know I'll need a puller, the thing is don't have a socket that will fit the nut without hitting the altenator (flywheel) first. need a very thin wall socket.

You need a standard 17mm socket. I use one for a 3/8 drive and have never had a problem.

im pretty sure there are 2 different bolt/pullers- for the 200's-
motion pro sells them- get it from dennis kirk- 9.99-
if its just a bolt style- you can get it at a hardware store- under 5.00
just get the thread pitch, and size-
i use a guide from my tap,and die set- (it tells what pitch they are)-
-pitch= number of threads per inch- 100/1.25 ect......
the clutch has a special nut ,and so does the oil pump- motion pro sells one- but mine didnt fit - i had to do a lil modification to it-

Your correct, the 200x's, 200e, 200es, 200m use a bolt style puller, while the 185, 185s, 200, 200s, uses a special puller ( has left hand threads, and screws into the flywheel / alternator ).
I think it was dirtcrasher that pointed out on a 200x flywheel you can use the main front axle bolt ( 200x, 200s, 200m, 250sx, 250es, newer 250r's, and 350x ) to remove it.
