I have a rad tapered carrier in my 200x and the bearings exploded a few months ago after the races wore out. I just got a set of 2 brand new timken bearings with the races and the loose bearing problem is still there. Im almost sure the old races are the problem and im not sure if they come out of the carrier. It looks to me that their just tapped in. I can run my fingernail around the outer edge and can see that there is space and there not molded into the aluminum itself. So do these things come out so I can put the brand new ones in? This carrier is driving me insane, if anyone knows ANYTHING please let me know before I destroy something on accident! These timken bearings arnt cheap at 40.00 a piece!

Yes the old races need to come out, the center spacer should be able to move enough to get a large punch in there to tab (not beat!!!) the races out. You tap them out from the oppisite side.

Does this help?

FYI you never use new bearings and old races on any project, if the bearings are bad the races are bad, and you will destroy the new bearings if they run to long on worn races.

Heat the carrier, the races should almost fall out.

Thanks for informing me! In the tapered RAD carriers there is no center spacer, it never had one and on the RAD site it says a spacer is not required. I tried to tap them out but didnt heat them. I gave them to a friend to get them out right before I read this, atleast I know he would be damaging anything.
When I had the origional bearings in it was really loose for a while but then I put a spacer between the disc and bearing so it tightened them up, then the bearings got loose again and you couldnt tighten it anymore. This was caused by worn out races right? And if i put the brand new races and bearings in it should be tight and no play?

Thanks for the help!
