Will a 85 tecate throttle spring work good on a 86 tecate? I know it will fit, but maybe to small? Dont wana mess anything more up. I messed the spring up on the 86 but have a 85 one. Cant really compare them with the other being messed up, Need to know asap so I can test the new main jet out and see how it does...thanks

I don't see why not. It's not gonna mess anything up to try it.

I agree... It either works or it doesn't... They should be close to the same... The stock carbs are almost the same size...

It worked just fine, thanks guys. But now I went from a 300 main jet to a 290 cause it was too rich, plugs were black, and didnt last much. Anyways with the 290 its too lean now I think. I rode it for a little and then did a plug chop, was full throttle. The plug is a really light grey and some of the part in the middle of the plug is white!? Would it even help to see how it does with a 32.1 ratio? I was doing 40.1. The pilot is a stock 35. Airbox is drilled with 4 good size holes. I dont wana blow this thing up ofcourse, thanks for any help

Going to 32:1 will lean the fuel mixture up just a bit. Maybe go to 32:1 and try it, and be prepared to put the 300 main back in. If it's just a little lean, drop one on the needle and try that.

Going to 32:1 from 40:1 means putting in more oil for a volume of fluid(gas/oil mixture) going into the engine. More oil in the same volume of fluid means there must be less gas, hence it is actually slightly leaner on the gas side and slightly richer on the oil side. Chris

I did 32.1 and rasied the needle up one but was still too lean by the plug chop, looks brand new pretty much still. So I put the 300 back in, it ran best with that, lowered the needle by two and it ran a little better than when i had the 300 jet with stock needle position, I need to try it with 40.1 and see if it does better though, thanks for the help
