jump a trike and break a peg?

i went off a double on my buddys kx 250 and the peg ripped out of the frame. wasnt good on the testies. hurt landing on the seet.

(Any one got some links to stregthen 250r pegs, or are they good?) well hell for any bike that a normal person would be jumping?

I think if you're light, you won't break much no matter how big the jump.

I jumped my junkyard X on my little moto track I had and didnt quite break any pegs off but they both bent all the way down, my feet slipped off and of course they went and visited the dirt under the rear tires after that, glad I alway wear riding boots!! rule of thumb if your a gorilla like me dont take to the sky on a 200x!

most of the time, the peg should bend down, not snap off.....check them occasionally for cracks, looseness, and other abnormalities. then you will be fine.

Jumped the ole Tri Z and the right peg broke right off, Wasnt in the greatest shape ball wise

that is exactly how I pictured it happening - running over myself while I am still on the trike. not sure if it would hurt worse with both feet or just one.

makes me want to buy soft tires

I broke one off, enough that it went vertical on my old Z. I managed to keep my leg from getting sucked under the tire, but I was way off balance on that side, and I tried to pull myself back on with the bars and rolled it. coulda been much much worse.

Yep Jumped the SX off a double and broke the right side. Snapped the one bolt right off :eek:

get custom pegs made...they wont bend then.

my brother on my lil 110 was riding it throygh the woods and hit a tree and bent my foot peg back about 4 inches.. how he managed to get his foot outta the way and not smash that i dunno..

I remember one of my friends riding his 110 down a long sloping trail, and hitting a speed limit sign with the footpeg. Tore them clean off the trike and ruined the bottom side of the crankcase, it started shooting oil out...

I've broke the pegs on just about every trike i've had. Jumps and 20 year old bolts don't mix with a 240lb rider.

I broke one on my 250SX and snapped one on my 350X a few months ago. I jump allot....

so it is not that rare to break/bend a peg

why do they break - just jumping too high? landing on one side?

I would think that one would bend easier if it was already a little bent - or if the teeth were dull allowing the foot the slip

break cause the old bolts eventually start to give way to the stress.

I think most of them the pegs themselves just break off and not necessarily the bolts. Correct me if I'm wrong? The bolts didn't come out of mine atleast.

Nope. peg broke flat off the mounting plate!

ive had 3 sets of bolts break on 3 different big reds.. old bolts are not good for jumping..

I had the bolts snap off of the right peg causing my foot to go under the rear tire. My leg wraped around the tire and drug me off, had a bruse from my knee to my nuts. Man that flippin hurt.
