what makes a trike pull when riding on hardball or concrete?
the 350x and 250r both do this and they both have new rear bearings and even pressure tires. It seems that if your weight shifts even the smallest bit to the left the trike wants to dart to the right. Do I really have to hold my breath to go in a straight line?
I do not have that much seat time on the sport trikes - is it normal?

26 hits and no replies? hmmmmmm
BTW - maybe it is not just on hardball but when they pick up speed? This is usually on hardball for me because that is the only place I pick up speed.

Tire pressure, bearing's (carrier or swinger) I actually have to over inflate one side just a bit to have the same circumference. If I don't I can only wheelie a hundred feet or so and I hit the shoulder of the road. If I equal them, I can bang through a couple gears on 2 wheels. I use a fabric tape measure and jack up the trike to check the actual circumference.

thanks...
I am going to look into what could be causing it when I get a chance.
- it is freaky to feel the bike take off left or right because of a minor weight shift

also it can be bent forks or axles.

I know the crown in the road makes my bikes want to pull to the side because the road will be sloped. Also because the back axle is solid each tire will try to get ahead of the other one and if you let go of the handlebars they will start to zigzag very rapidly. But as far as a constant pulling to one side or the other, it usually only happens to me when I run a low tire.
Maybe besides the carrier, what about the steering stem bearing or the swingarm bearings? Worn swingarm bearings could put the bike out of line?

if it only does when you shift your weight, then its a bearing in the swinger or carrier.
i guess it could also be up front.

To this day, I honestly cannot figure out what causes front "wheel wobble".
I've put together plenty of trikes with tight, lubed bearings and brand new tires yet still had wobble in the front end on pavement.

i know it sounds nerdy or whatever... but take a "rope tape" aka cloth tape measure, and wrap it around both rear wheels and check your circumference... tire pressure can be the same and the tires could be a inch or 2 off... usually, i air up one tire to my desired pressure, measure it, and inflate the next one to that same size... they run completely straight.....
your handlebars could be bent a tiny bit and you think the front tire is straight....
then again i might have no idea what i'm talking about :-)

Possibly the torque that is being exerted on the chain drive pullin you to one side? Ive only noticed this on bikes more than anything. Could apply to anything though I guess.

my personal opinion, you hit the nail on the head. Tire pressure means nothing..... rollout is everything :D

- I will equalize pressure and then take measurements - this will take me a bit since I have a few things going on in the shop - but I will post the results.
