If you have a large set of channel locks they work.

unless it is rusted up or locked up, a large flat screwdriver and a hammer works... just be careful... i adjusted mine, and you can't look at it and say... he didnt' have a spanner wrench, because you cant tell i hit it...

a flat head chisel or punch a long flat head bolt what ever - to loosen up the top nut
then just turn the spring ,and the lower bolt should turn with it-
clean the threads good with a old tooth brush or something ,and it will loosen easier
if you are tightening it dont go too tight - or it can rebound too fast ,and will ruin the seals eventually- if your heavy its better to get a heavier rated spring-

I used a flat screwdriver too. Except mine was seized, so I ended up having to take it out, put it in vise, and use a 3lbs sledge with a screwdriver to move it.
It did scar it a bit, but it's not really that bad.

just raise it off the ground by the rear bar...with a 2x4 and she moves alot easier...
