I'm new to this site, having just bought an 84 250r for $350. It is in decent shape and runs great. It just needs a little TLC (I bought it from an 82 yr old who was the original owner). I have a few questions I would like answered, as I am not very familiar with my atc yet.
Are rear brake pads standard honda equipment? (i.e. will any honda dealer have them).
Where can I find a front master cylinder cover?
Are the rear hubs the same bolt pattern as current atvs?
Are there any online service manuals for free, or should I buy the book?
Is a DG the only aftermarket exhaust system available?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought myself an '83 R that is in nice shape. Really good deal you got, you should post some pics. There are quite a few knowledgeable people on this board--moreso than me, but I can help with a few questions:
You can still get Honda OEM brake pads from a few places. I like this place. They're good to deal with and ship quickly. Plus I think they're having a 25% off sale on all Honda OEM parts this week. Use the diagrams they have to get the proper part number. The rear pads come as a set (about $25) but the front are individual (you'll have to buy two). I've been told that the Honda OEM pads are some of the best out there, so I think you're safe sticking with them. Here's the link... http://www.hondaparts-direct.com/
As far as a manual is concerned, do a search on this site for a post by, I believe Dammit! for service manuals. He has a website where you can download the manuals. he was accepting donations for host fees, but I'm not sure if he is still doing so or not.
I'd check eBay for the master cylender cover, or just put a post in the "Parts wanted" section here on the board. I'm sure someone has one they're willing to sell.
HOLA GRINGO!!! welcome to the site!! I got an 83 air fooler among many other trikes great machines!!
1st YES brake pads are at honda dealers
2nd ebay or just get a newer brake master cyl of a new machine almost any will work
3rd honda 4x110 super common wheels all over the place, also hubs are interchangable with newer wider hubs such as 400ex 450R etc etc...
4th dg is the only new, but ebay has alot of older sectional pipes for those 83-84R's I have a sweet jemco on mine

So I can basically use any atv front master cylinder on my atc? I will try and get pics sometime this week.
I think I got a great deal on this, but what is it really worth? I've seen atc250r's around 1200-1500 in my area.
air foolers never really get beyond the 1200 mark unless they are extremly badd azz or perfect oem, the liquids 85-86 models will go way past that mark, I got mine for 800 and it had the 300 kit on it.
mine is in the rebuild process right now.
