The other day me and two of my friends were going along the railway beds when we came to a road to cross. we waited for the cars topass and we crossed. at the other side of the track a little black ford focus cut us off and a cop got out. He told us we crossed at an inpoper 90 degree angle.(although there is no law about this?!?and we crossed in the legal way:twisted: ) He then gave us tickets for every little thing he could find. Then he told us to go home and it was okay to use the shoulders of the roads to get home so we left. When i was almost home he cut me off again saying i wasnt allowed on the shoulder of the road?!?(going agansit what he said). Wrote me a ticket for not obeying a police officer. He called the tow truck and while it was being put on the truck he let several other bike go in the middle of the road and never stopped them. Although they had no helmets on?!? So now ihave the bike in my shed not allowed on it untill i pay over a grand in tickets. get my liscense and buy my own bike again. This sucks so much because it was done in a unprofessinal way that endangered me and my buddies. No we're gonna to go to court to contest the tickest because we have things against the cop that can bet us cleared of the inciddent......THIS SUCKS SO BAD.
I'm not sure about the laws in Newfoundland, but I'd definitely fight the tickets. Sadly, it's going to be your word against a police officer, so it'll probably be tough. However, around these parts, often, when the officer knows he was being an a-hole and was improperly writing tickets, they won't show up to the court and all charges end up being dropped. At the least, it sounds like you should fight the ticket regarding disobeying an officer's orders. Out of common sense, I'm not sure how they expected you to get them home, and hypothetically misconstruing "you can ride them home on the side of the road" vs. "Have someone come and pick these up" is unlikely.

use public records to locate other similar incidents on the officers records. Ask the chief about his record and file a formal complaint. Don't let up - fight tooth and nail until they clean up the force. The officer needs therapy for his power trips.

Fight it man. My buddy got cut off by a cop and ran into him. They are not allowed to cut you off. They had to get his machine repaired and drop the charges. Then for weeks they would come and check on him to make sure he was recovering and not gonna sue.

I have a couple bits of advice for you come court time:
-get a haircut
-put on a nice shirt-tie-pants-shoes
Take this seriously, or they wont take you seriously. Your only 16, so you already have a disadvantage walking into the court. Be polite, and practice your responses before you go in.
Like I said, they might look down on you because your younger, if you act professional you will come out ahead.
good luck!!

The officer needs therapy for his power trips.
Therapy is useless against the deep rooted issues causing an enforcers power trip... My advise is to lie in court... you know they are gonna be...

I was shredding in the road and then in my front yard and a truck pulled up and a police car incase we took off then he said I got a complaint you guys were riding wreckless in the road and my friend said no we were just riding in our front yard. Then he said who called in the complaint then? I told him I rode in the shoulder of the road. then he said if he pulled up when we were in the road he was going to load up the trikes and we would receive big fines but instead he said just wear a helmet and I said I don't have one right now and I will just ride in my front yard. Then he left. He was an asshole cause we had a 6ft x 9ft confederate flag on the trikes and a smaller one then on the hat my friend was wearing had a rebel flag on it.

Ill just sum it up for you try to take the extra time out of your busy day and use punctuation and grammer its hard to figure out where one thought process starts and the other ends first you said the cop said he was gonna load em up and big fines if you went in the road again then said but he only told us to wear a helmet
It gets confusing man. Just use punctuation. Here is a few you can have ..............,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?????????????

first off i wouldnt of let the cop catch me, cut me off or not. by the time he's out of his ford focus cop car, i'd be turned around headed the other direction...far ahead of his ford focus ..... :beer
sounds kinda like something that happened to me and digity x this weekend. had the state troopers pull us over cuz i wasnt wearing my seatbelt, oops, my bad!!!, he saw the bikes on the trailer and back of the truck, asked us if we had plates on them, or if they were insured, we both openly admitted that neither of them were. the trooper basically puffed up his chest, and said "well you cant ride them!!!!" i said oh no? he was talking about he could think of 5 tickets just sitting there that he could think of he could write us, digity got smart and said "wow, thats like a thousand bucks in fines huh?" then he said well we are riding on private property officer, dont need them insured or registered. he asked us where we were going, we told him, he said that we couldnt ride down in there, we told him yeah we can we know the owners personally and have permission from them to ride there, and he came up with the stupidest thing to say..."well we have a chevy tahoe now!!!" me and digity look at each other when he says that and wanna start laughing, instead digity goes" well thats nice" the trooper said we could go ahead and go ride thwere if we want to, but dont be suprised if we see either encon or the troopers in there and expect to get tickets. we both kinda chuckled and said ok, see yah later. never did see the cop, and if we did, by the time they even drive down into the pit we ride, we'd be up the hills and hitting the trails by the time they got in there... i never stop for the cops.

When folks start doing this it makes it harder on the rest of us. Not sure about the law elsewhere.. but around here if your polite and obay the law for the most part you usually get away scott-free. Heck,, I've even had a few that were intrested in riding before. :beer

Consider yourself lucky... Around here you get hassled for every lil thing they can think of... My buddy for example got hassle a couple weeks ago for starting his dirtbike in his garage on a stand at like 2 or 3pm on a saturday afternoon... the cop was just driving by and stopped... no neighbors had complained or were even home... Another prime example.... I am 26 years old and I have lived in this small town for 15 years... A couple months ago I got pulled over while walking... The cop was a newby and wanted to know what I was doing walking at 10pm on a well lit main street wearing jogging pants, running shoes, and headphones.... He even wanted to know where I lived and where I worked... And to top it all off he even recorded the entire conversation...

this guy i was trying to get into the marine corps had a few problems with a cop here in NC. here you are supposed to push your trike, bike, or quad across a rode, not ride. well he got caught riding across on his bike. cop saw him, he saw cop, he tried to run, cop meet him at his house. gave him a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt? WTF

OK think about this... you run and they do catch ya. It's gonna multiply your troubles 10 fold. Personally,, I'd take the $80 ticket.
I can understand some of you guys to a point... I was young onece, but once you get a bit older you get a bit wiser... suck it up and pay a small fine. Run.. get caught... give my best wishes to your new cell mate Bubba for me! :D

I am not supporting running from the cops. But since we are on the subject, I have only stopped for the cops (on a dirt bike, ATV, etc..) two times. Neither were intentional. First time I ran out of gas running, second time cop was in truck we had to beat him back to out truck load up and split. Apparently he had already staked out our trucks, because he got there right behind us and he came a different (faster?) way, guess you could say he cut us off at the pass....lol from my experience both first hand and second hand, cops will not cut you a break for stopping when you both you and the cop know that you could get away. It gives them a power trip when you stop. There are disclaimers of course I would never put anyones life in danger.

i can see since im young they give you a hard time when *Edited**Edited* older they wont bug you to much, but also its kinda fun casue as soon as you get in the trails over here they call more cops and two of them come in with raptor 700's but they cant catch you. still i took the ticket becasue i didnt wanna get my cousin in trouble but if it was me i woudlnt have stopped i really dont have the money to pay the tickets.

That's how it is here too, if you're careful to not break the speed limit too much, and if you don't have straight pipes on your machine, they will pretty much ignore you.
