Hello, I thought I would introduce myself to everyone. I just bought an '85 Honda 200x, I live in southern California, I love the desert, and for a day job I am a preschool teacher (thats where my heart and joy is ;-). I think I got a pretty good deal on the bike, after a lot of searching for a nice trike on a teachers budget! The plastics are perfect, seat is shot, brand new paddles and front tire. The guy I purchased it from has owned it since '86 and got it from his buddy. It has been sitting in his garage for over 2 years without being started or ran, but ran perfect when it was going. He sold it for $400 including extra set of itp wheels with shot knobbies on them.
When I went to go look at the trike the guy put gas in it (he had it drained) and it started right up for him. However the next day i couldnt get it to start so i'm not sure what he did to get it going.
I purchased a carb rebuild kit, changed the oil, and spark plug then I sent it to the shop for them to put on the carb kit. It is still there as they are pretty backed up (only found 1 place that will work on trikes!)
I just bought 20 x 11 x 8 holeshot tires, What is everyone else running on the rears? I like the flat look (I'm a girl go figure, all about the looks!)I was looking for the best bang for your buck, and was thinking holeshots.
Anyways I could go on forever, but it is very exciting to find such an awesome message board about such an awseome trike!
I owned an '84 Honda 200s prior as a child so I love them!
Talk to you soon! K.C.

Allright, a girl who likes trikes, that's awesome! Ha ha, anyways welcome to the boards. I started here with minimal knowledge of certain areas and now have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing so you came to the right place. I'm into Yamahas, so I won't be of much help but you will probably find all the information you need and more on your project :beer Check for spark and fuel, don't need much else to get it running. As for the rear tires, what kind of riding are you going to be doing? Holeshots are supposed to be pretty good, no experience with them though...

How many times you kick it over? My 86 200x was the same way until I kicked it over about 20 times and it started. If you do get it started, let it run for a while. Also check the normal stuff; gas is on, switch turned on, and so on..

You only need a couple screwdrivers to rebuild the carb.
I volunteered to help with a kindegarden class for about six months one time. Thats a pretty tough job.
Check out the Carlisle Turf Tamers, they are inexpensive, flat, 2 ply radials.

Welcome to the boards. A girl that rides three wheelers, how cool is that? Anyways, I'm sure you'll get a lot of people on here to help you and answer your questions. It's good to have a girl in here to dilute the testosterone levels a little too = )

Welcome to the boards! :welcome:
Did you choke it one time and take the choke off? If your 200x is anything like my 350x, it is a bear to start with any more than one kick w/choke on.

Welcome aboard! I dont think there is anything wrong with the tire choice, and you really wont know what you like till you try them. I think fast trekkers are a great performance tire, but too prone to flats. Well just ask if you need help, I'm sure someone can, keep on trikin!:TrikesOwn

Ha Ha.... So I take it there isn't any other female besides me?!? wow, that amazes me, as I have always been into the desert. If it were horses, my old honda fat cat, my old go-kart, a three wheeler, or just a bicycle!
I like the holeshot look, And I guess I will just try them and see. I hope they last, because I almost choked at spending $150 on tires for a three wheeler!
I was also wondering what wheel size everyone has? My little 8" looks so small! But I am used to my truck with monster truck tires! haha.
I was debating on going to 9" wheels and tires to match.
they shop has these really sweet looking wheels but they are 12" They are the correct displacement (4x110) but i don't know if 12" will work!
I don't know, what do you think?
I run the 22x11x9 ITP Holshots on the rear of my R.They are great!!!!!
I got them for $76.95 a piece.Shipping is free over $200.
Here is a scan from my new scanner.

I too run the Holeshot HD's but they are VERY heavy for a 200X and she is in Cali so it may be a bit much for her.
Here in the East we have nasty rocks, trees etc etc. Heck, I have no problem dumping 300$ in tires and rims for my rides :D I actually enjoy it, kinda like XMAS 3 times a year :beer
Yes the 8" rim looks like a bit small. The best deal is a tire and wheel package, you can get a nice set of 9" rims with ITP Holeshot XC's or similar for about 230$ give or take and thats all mounted on Douglass or ITP thick rims. RockymountainATV is the place 2 B....
As for the size? 22" is tall just like stock. I myself like to run 20" tires but you do lose topend speed and an inch of ground clearance. However, it certainly allows it to turn and handle better than the 22" tires.
But, if you don't jump and just ride wheelies on a high performance ATC250R racing machine like EDOG does   than they may suit you just fine.
And as far as the attention goes... Yep, there aren't too many chicks here and especially ones called rockstargirl21 are DEFINITELY gonna get attention. Then the teacher thing :naughty: were all thinking "TEACHER GONE BAD!!" LOL!!!!! You'd be better off calling yourself Marriedcrossedeyemom45 if you don't want your PM box to fill up too quick

Oh yeah, I'll get your motor running for ya! :naughty:
Just playing around. Yeah we sure as hell don't see many girls around these parts. I guess trikes are just too manly, and seeing the lumberjack's ride of choice doesn't attract many women.
I'm getting an 86 200X myself today, we'll have to swap stories sometime. Mine is WAY more raggy than yours, though, missing half the stuff, etc. That's how rough Alaska is on trikes and machines in general.
PM me with pics of yourself please. You know, for purely fact-checking reasons. ;) I wanna make sure you're not really 45, married, and have crossed eyes.
Ahaaaa "marriedcrosseyedmom45". That's just too funny.

if your gonna ride in the sand get some nice 9 inch, light allumunum rims and some 20-11-9 stat trak hauler paddles. thats probaly the lightest combo you can get for tires. i run that on my 350x and it throws a mean roost.

She has a 200x and a truck with big tires...Welcome to 3wheelerworld:welcome:  I might bug you about what tires/lift/truck you got later but for now I guess I can just focus on the 200x stuff:lol:
Like others said, the 22" on the 8" rims are great for trail riding but the smaller ones handle better in tight turns. and the flat profile tires dont just look cooler, they help to keep the trike from wanting to go up on one side in the sharp corners. I never rode in sand so I dont have much advice as far as that goes, but hey post up some pictures of that 200x when you get a chance. this site has a bunch of great people, you should be able to get any help or question answered you need here
