View Full Version : Stock Tri-Z wheels?
Just curious, when I bought my Z it has Ohtsu tires on back, and a Dunlop on the front....are those stock tires?

You should have Dunlops all around. I switched my 21 X 10 X 9 tires with banshee wheels and tires that are 20 inchers. (if you remember they always said in the 80's that the Tri Z did not corner as well as the 250R and the Tecate...I am hoping to fix SOME of that).
If you want to switch to 9 inch rims that will fit your hubs I have 3 gold rims from my 86 that are just like your 85 model but a 1 inch bigger rim size. Let me know.
The 85 definately wallers around with the stock 22x11-8s on the back and the 25x8-12 on the front. Stock for stock, There's no comparison to the 86 Tecate. I will say one thing for the '85 Z with stock tires at all 3 ends. It's a cushy, comfortable ride on leisurley trail rides. The handling problems also reside in frame geometry. even with a longer, wider racing rear-end (18" turf tamers, a +2 Swingarm, and 2.5" hub spacers with the stock Z rims turned around), I still cant slide the Z like I can my 86 Tecate with stock axle, rims, & tires.
18 inch tires? With my gearing now I wouldn't be able to go to over 40 mph!(Running 12/44 gears)
