my boss found a junk hybrid 200X

yup, he answered an add in Craigslist for a group of bikes and 1 trike. It is a 200x with a XR500 motor in it.... sounds cool huh? I thought so.

He drives 4 hours and gets this thing back to the shop and this thing is a nightmare.... no lower engine cradle, thus no footpegs, no gear shift, and it is still has a backward kick setup too.

Too much torque, too small of a footprint, and clapped out. I'll post pictures in the morning.

To be honest with you, it sounds terrible no matter what condition the mods are. A 500 4-stroke motor would have way too much torque for such a small trike and you'd be constantly wheelieing or roosting and not hooking up.

They were 350X's I believe.

And the guy said it's all chopped up to make the 500 fit, I think it's probably a stock frame that someone butchered.

No, not running at this time. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago in mid-build. Seems to have been in this condition for quite some time. Not too much to do other than wiring, but the swing arm was extended and "they" were not careful and the sprockets are off 3/4 of an inch. I do have an original Nicholson swingarm to replace the extended one with. Then its just to DMV and get the paper work done. Probably about a month worth of spare time work. Then off to Glamis. :D

this is to weird, My brother just bought a 79 xr500. Been sitting for years, i was bored the other day and i cleaned the carbs to see if it would run and it fired, and ran great. i had it next to my 200x with no engine, looking at where the engine would fit, i seen the xr500 on the other side. the mounts are almost the same. My brother was sittiing there and i was like hey can......he cut me off, hes like your not going to make a drag bike. it ended there. that dirt bike goes like 80 mph

It wouldnt fit as easy as it looks. I had a 350x with an xr 500 engine in it and the frame was actually cut in half and streched about 3 or so inches. It was a squeeze then. The 350x is significantly bigger than a 200x in pretty much every aspect, in other words there wouldnt be much, if anything, left of the 200x frame by the tiime the swap was complete.

As for the 500 or 600 xl or xr's in a 200x or 350x frames do a search here and on 3wheeler.org. There is a member that has a very complete thread on that type of a project.
