250sx fuel tank

I have a buddy who is in need of 1986 honda 250sx plastic fuel tank. We both have looked online, but the one's we have found cost about $170.00. I was wondering if anyone knew of any places that he might be able to get one cheaper.

Clarke is probably gonna be your best bet. OEM SX tanks are a pretty sought after item both here and ebay.. they usually go for a pretty penny. if they're in decent shape. if ya find a beat one it's gonna cost more to redcote, take out dents and repaint it anyways. this of coarse if your like me and need the nice new clean look. I've seen them on the IMS website for $149 or so... but then I dont remember if shipping was free or not. do some research to find the cheapest place.

are the 85 and 86 the same?

I have an 85 that I will turn loose of pretty cheap - it is not the prettiest but a trip to SYKO with 100$ stuffed in it and it would be looking new!!

btw- yea Chris is right. You could not professionally restore you own tank for less than 100$... 170$ is not THAT bad - but its not cheap like some bikes either.

I have a new plastic tank on my sx that I am willing to sell. It sat on wheeler covered up under tarp for one year. I filled the tank and ran the wheeler for about 10 minutes. Make me a reasonable offer and its yours. If you have a oem tank I would consider a trade
