Ive noticed there has recently (and for a long time) been a lot of questions about which parts interchange with what. Well, I have alot of time on my hands and would love to volunteer to compile all this info into a nice, usable document. I have quite a bit of the info, and have been compiling posts. I will still need info from all of you guys as well. I plan to have categories for each "receiving" vehicle, and under each trike will be categories such as "axles" "forks" "breaks" ect. Each of those categories would have a list of interchangeable parts listed with the model and year of the "donor" parts. There will also be a column for "bolt on" or "some modification required." Im thinking of making it a pdf so everyone can access it, and it can be well organized and professional looking.
SO, pending poll results, I will begin working on this shortly. I would like you guys to suggest models to include. I was originally planning on just doing the hondas, as i have no other experience with kawi or yami trikes, but if you guys can get me the info, Ill compile it.
Also, this will be a thread to post your CONFIRMED swap parts on, and also discus swap ideas.

I think it was Dirtcrasher who had a very similar idea a couple weeks ago.
He wanted to make a "Trikepedia" kinda like Wikipedia, doing exactly what you stated. Not sure if he's started on it or not though.

For you swap ideas, I can tell you that a 1984 Suzuki PE175 engine will fit in an '83-'85 200X frame, with "some" modification. :D

Ya, I actually got the idea when i was board last night, and trying to find the mm of 200x forks. Then I found that thread on axles where dirtcrasher was talking about it just a bit ago, and I figured id get some feedback before i started. I love to do graphic design/database/pagemaker type stuff (i know, weird) and just thought Id offer up my services.

Well I definitely think it's a good idea, and if your willing to go through with it, and spend some time on it, I say go for it!

Fantastic idea. Some of these trike are gettin pretty old and certain parts can be hard to get, especially if you need em quick.
Obviuosly I'd like to see the Yamaha Tri Z on the list.
Good luck with it champ.

i think its a good idea. i know when i get a new toy i request a new denniskirk catologe and go thru eveyr pag and circle the alike part numbers....

this way i can search on ebay and sore things under different models but things are all the same.

did you know a TRX90 clutch plate set is the same as a ATC185/200? yeah!

cool! thats the kinda sweet stuff id like to have in this book.

SO, start posting your swaps! Heres what I would like included just to make it easy:

-Name of recieving and doner's MAKE, MODEL, & YEAR/YEARS

-Name of the part

-Vender, if applicable for aftermarket (things like exhausts)

-Direct swap, or slight mods..(I know all parts can be made to work with "some mods.") Id like to limit this reference to minimal work such as adding extra washers, small amounts of grinding/sanding/clearancing, things of that nature. Also, if it is a "slight mod," please briefly describe your mod.

-PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR SWAP WORKS! Indicate if this is something you have successfully done yourself, have personaly seen on another's trike, equivalent part numbers, or whatever confirmation you may have.

-Indicate parts number (and source of parts number such as Honda, Manufacturer, Dennis Kirk) If it is needed.

Im excited about this. Its going to be really cool. And don't worry, All contributions as well as 3WW will get their fair share of credit for this. :TrikesOwn :TrikesOwn :TrikesOwn

It's something we've needed for awhile. We still have members desperate to find that one part and sometimes there is a perfectly acceptable alternative. Such as the front calipers, many of the CR80 etc are almost a direct swap. Really, whats the point in rebuilding a 22 yo caliper when a caliper just a few years old will work.

I don't know exactly how Wikepedia is set up, I haven't spent much time there. But the fact that PEOPLE can add there own insight to a given subject is superb. I'm not saying an article of sort won't work, but a website dedicated entirely to the ATC community in alphabetized order would be sweet. If you can't easily edit a given subject, your gonna use up allot of ink and paper, lol.... Partially because of false information.

i think its a good idea. i know when i get a new toy i request a new denniskirk catologe and go thru eveyr pag and circle the alike part numbers....

Does Dennis Kirk's catalog have part numbers for OEM parts for most 3-wheel and 4-wheel models? If so, that's impressive and something I'd definitely want to see.

But, I do think the swap post is a very good idea. I'm always interested to see what "improved" items might work on what I have.

DK doesnt give OEM part numbers. They only sell aftermarket stuff as far as i know (except a few oem tires for new models). If you want oem partnumbers, both bike bandit and service honda have the factory microfiltches on their sites.

yeah the part numbers are the same per denniskirk with aftermarket parts. most times oem parts will have a different part number per each model.

Name of recieving and doner's MAKE, MODEL, & YEAR/YEARS
early 90's XR200 to 83-85 200x
-Name of the part
Carburetor 30mm

-Vender, if applicable for aftermarket (things like exhausts) factory or aftermarket Keihen (mine was Chinese)

Will bolt up and seal to factory 200x intake, however the early 90's XR200 intake will fit better. Will also need to warm up the factory breather tube with a heat gun to get it to fit the new carb. Also, (obviously) will have to tune it to your bike.

-PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR SWAP WORKS! Indicate if this is something you have successfully done yourself, have personaly seen on another's trike, equivalent part numbers, or whatever confirmation you may have.
I have done this myself. some info found on 3ww forums..

found on ebay (XR200 carb) Chinese knockoff was $60 shipped in 11/07

awesome idea! I always wished that there was something like this. My friend owns an auto salvage yard and he has some books that he can look up stuff like this for cars. I always thought there should be something like this for the bikes and atc atv etc. Maybe there is already, because there are a lot of motorcycle salvage yards out there. I don't know but worth looking into for sure.

Rear Bearing Carrier

-Vender, if applicable for aftermarket (things like exhausts) Rad and all others

As long as you go with the 1986 rear sprocket set-up - a 250X / 300EX rear Bearing Carrier will directly fit in your 350X Swinger Housing. 1986 is a direct bolt on - 1985 requires the 1986 rear sprocket, as the sprocket bolts are recessed into the sprocket - the 1985 will have bolt clearance issues with the Bearing carrier.

-PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR SWAP WORKS! Indicate if this is something you have successfully done yourself, have personaly seen on another's trike, equivalent part numbers, or whatever confirmation you may have.

Yamaha Ytm-200e shaft yamahauler
-Name of the part
rear axle final drive

-Vender, if applicable for aftermarket (things like exhausts)

-Direct swap, or slight mods..(I know all parts can be made to work with "some mods.") Id like to limit this reference to minimal work such as adding extra washers, small amounts of grinding/sanding/clearancing, things of that nature. Also, if it is a "slight mod," please briefly describe your mod.
The gears inside the final drive of the yamahauler can be interchanged with theses from the ytm-225 final drive ( note that the gearing will be 15% higher)
You will need to use the ytm-225 final drive housing and bolt it onto your 200e bearing carrier. The only other parts that need to be changed is the big left-hand nut that keep the pinion shaft in place, use the 200e one on the 225 housing.( the 225 one is longer and won't let the middle shaft slip into the housing)
-PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR SWAP WORKS! Indicate if this is something you have successfully done yourself, have personaly seen on another's trike, equivalent part numbers, or whatever confirmation you may have.
I have done this to my 1984 ytm-200e. Yamahauler here on the board helped me with this repair.

atctim.

350x should not accecpt a trx250R bearing carrier, they interchange with a 400ex and are wider and bigger diameter i was told buy the guy who made my swingarm. double check that...

350x should only be able to use trx250x and trx300ex

Eric250R

A 250X or 300EX engine is a direct bolt in on a 350X frame. The only mod needed is the exhaust which is very simple, of course if you use the 300EX you need to fab up a box for the battery. Have done it myself and rode it for years.

Just to clarify, and make it a little easier, I don't really need part numbers or venders or the like, unless you are using that as verification that the swap works, or, if your sure only one aftermarket company's product will work such as, a supertrapp from model X is a direct bolt on to model Y, but a DG will need some mods. Thanks for all the info, and for being so thorough. I'm going to try to post up a VERY incomplete version of this by next weekend so you guys can look at the format and give me some feedback.

The purpose of this swap is to gain better braking performance and eliminate the parking brake mechanism from the rear brake caliper on all 86-89 ATC and TRX 250Rs.

Name of recieving and doner's MAKE, MODEL, & YEAR/YEARS
Donor - 2000+ Yamaha YZ and YZF motocross bikes

Receiver - 86-89 Honda ATC and TRX 250Rs

Name of the part
YZ/YZF front brake caliper and bracket

Vender
Either your local Yamaha dealer (expensive) or Ebay (cheap)

Direct swap, or slight mods
Slight modifications.
The holes in the 250R brake stay plate need to be slightly elongated to match the holes in the YZ/YZF caliper's bracket. It is also necessary to grind a small notch in the brake stay to clear the caliper stud between the pistons, under the word Nissin, as seen in the second pic. A Dremel tool will make quick work of these modifications. A stock or aftermarket 250R brake line will work with this caliper.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR SWAP WORKS!
I have not done this myself, but it has been done and documented by several 3WW members. The pictures below are actually from SWIGIN on this site.

Indicate parts number
Part numbers unknown.

Notes: This swap can be performed on an 85 ATC250R, but the brake stay plate needs to be updated to the 86-89 style. It will be necessary to weld a stud to the side of the swingarm to prevent the plate from rotating. This stud is visible on all 86-89 250R swingarms. I am unsure if this swap will work for 350Xs.

another is the 83-85 200x axle swap into a newer (84-85) 110 swap

you do need a lathe to thin the sprocket hub down but its not so hard and you get disc brakes too

2007 I revived a thread from the dead!! I think I joined in 1997/1998 on the 3 wheelio board

My join date must have changed somehow, maybe I didn't like my first user name. DC has stuck well...

Found this today when searching for a part, I wish we had completed it but many swaps have been figured out by now.

For the life of me I cannot get anyone to make flat head sprocket bolts for the 86 350X. I use some SS ones and they work fine, but they are 10mm a 1.5 versus 10mm x 1.25 JIS and some guys want the right stuf...
