Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone owned a Cr480. I kinda want one simply because they were not made very long and they're just an odd bike all around. I was just wonderin if any of you vintage lovers had one in the collection.

I just sold one. They are great bikes for woods/hill climbing, and they actually handle well. Drum brakes are still drum brakes even when they're working perfectly, but they will stop you.

Stock there's not much top end power, but the bottom and mid range makes for a dang quick ride from turn to turn or hil to hill.....but what could anyone expect with 51hp in an under 230lb. bike.

In short....I like'em.

I completely agree with everything Dixieplowboy has said... They are awesome bikes... I also had a '90 CR500 for awhile and I always liked the 480 better... I dont know how much the two actually differed in weight, but the 480 "felt" much lighter when riding it... They corner great... Just as dixie said... They dont have much top-end so short-shifting is a must, but the engine loves it... The power builds very mellow, but the lightness of the flywheel can surprise you on loose ground... It is quite snappy, but that also causes the bike to stall easy when braking into corners if you forget to pull the clutch... But like most big-bores if the throttle is open the bike is going... rather you are aboard or not...
