I vote DLP.
Yep, watched a thing on CNN, like a consumer reports deal. The DLP's hold up 2-3 times longer than LCD and 5-6 times longer than Plasma.

I've been "wanting" a TV for well over a year now. I have the cash saved, but they keep coming down in price. I have a 26" TV now that was 300$ 15 years ago and it still looks and works great.
I'm gonna be real pissed off if I spend 1500$ on a TV only to have it die in 6 years or so.
I've heard good stuff about DLP but you can't hang it on the wall like the LCD and Plasma which is what I want to do...... Maybe I'll change my mind.
I've seen some LCD's and PLASMA'S that look like complete crap unless thay are on an HD channel so that is something to think about.

Plasma's look 8000 times better. they look more fluid and more 3-D.
but LCD's have a tendency to last longer. i would go with a sony vega or a sharp aquos. both are pretty good from what i have seen.

My buddie spent 2500$ on a 50" LCD TV. He bragged and bragged but thats how he is, if he owns it, it's the BEST!!
I stopped by to fix his stove, another moron who can't use a multi meter (sorry!!) but anyhow I sat and watched his TV for a bit. ONLY the HD channels looked nice and he only has about 40 HD channels out of 300 channels. The regular channels looked stretched and crummy. I would not be happy if I owned that TV for that amount of $$.
TRR said "im still a standard deff CRT fan!" and according to polls, they are still the best picture for your buck. I think the DLP's look nice too.
Hell, I'm in my PC and pool room most of the time I'm home and I just have a 19" TV in there. I was ready to jump on a TV awhile ago but now I'm more hesitant than ever.
I did go to BJ's and saw a VIZIO 42" TV (#VU42LF) and it looked real nice and was 1000$. But, don't forget, they are just playing an HD DVD that repeats on there floor models nd the picture you see in the store isn't what your gonna get at home with every channel.
Good god, I just don't know what the heck to buy and I'm more confused than ever!

My brother got a big Mitsubishi DLP, it's about 50 or so inches. It looks nice for sure, and the standard def channels look better on the DLP than on LCDs and Plasmas but they do look great in HD as well. You have to replace a bulb every few years but it takes literally minutes.

digital rear projection will give you just as good a picture if not better than the current tvs. hell, there barely over 2 megapixels...which is crap. for me i'd go with the sharp or the samsung, preferably samsung.
i also have a brand loyalty with philips, i have never purchased a philips product and had it break or not perform to my specs.
if you're going lcd or plasma...go lcd. plasma is brighter, but the picture honestly isn't that good. plus lcd has a wider viewing angle...at least comparing a samsung lcd to a samsung plasma.

I like LCD because theres no glare as to the plasma in the store. Also it has a better picture IMO.

dont dlp's have like a million mirrors in them? that seems awefully fragile to me. hope you never have to move once you get one.
