Yes.. Make sure everything is clean!

the head gasket has to be a certian side up I believe.

the stock oem head gasket says on it what side goes up but not on the vesrah aftermarket ones. I would use some yamabond gasket sealer on the base gasket as well, just a thin coat though. Good luck, i'm actually getting ready to do the same to mine.

I use an anaerobic gasket maker from Permatex. (other manufactures offer this product as well). Like from the Dodge Dealer..It's expensive, does not need air to cure, handles minor surface imperfections, resist temperatures to 300 degrees, disassembles easily, and it seals. (did I mention it was expensive?)

yes make shure you have the washer on the kick start shaft and the water pump shaft when you install the cover..I torque the head nuts at 22ftpnds.
There is absoulty no need for any gasket sealer with new gaskits.. just make shure the surfaces are clean. I tighten down the cylinder nuts as hard as I can by hand,,NEVER Blew one out!

water pump seal I put in with a socket the same size as the OD of the seal, put a little grease on the outside of the seal and lightly around the hole..I also add more grease inside the seal useing a screwdriver.. being real careful not to mess up the little springs inside..lightly smear it in the groove in the middle..when putting the cover on the water pump gear may hold you up... just turn it a little bit and the cover should slip on..if its binding in the front its the gear..

what style gaskets??
