recently bought an 85 125m. having an issue with it:

when going down a hill and engine braking, it starts smoking when I accelerate again. it only smokes for about 3 seconds or so.

what would the most likely could the cause of this be?

can those lifan top ends bolt on to these motors? they seem to be good quality and well priced.

I had the same thing happen on my old 85 125M. Im guessing the oil would rush to the top end finding a way into the cylinder. Mine would sometimes seize when on a really steep decline. It was hell to start and when it did, smoke everywhere for a few seconds. Funny, there was little to no smoke during normal riding.

do these things have a automatic decompressor? theres not alot of compression when i yank the pullcord.

do you know anything about those lifan topends?

Time for a new set of rings.;)

Sounds like an oil ring to me. When you engine brake, there is less compression against the rings which could allow that small amount of oil into the cylinder.

Not sure if these have the decompression or not.

Another off that wall idea...didn't accidentally put 2 stroke gas in it did ya? lol

Do a compression check before you go to extremes.............

it would be cheaper to slap in a new topend kit.

I would put a new set of rings In. It's about the only reason you will get blue smoke on deceleration. Oil In the cylinder at the time a compression check Is done will SOMETIMES give a false reading because the oil works as a sealer for the rings.

if its the 110 style motor, they only have one valve seal on the exhaust side, so they will smoke quite a bit no matter what. do a compression test, she might be clapped out.

My turd warrior did this , and all it needed was rings...

My 110 did this and got to the point it would smoke all of the time. I just put a new top end into it.

Yeah there is bugger all compression there,,very easy to turn over. really want to do the whole top end while i got it apart...those lifan topends are cheap enough.

My main question now is will the Lifan topend bolt onto my motor??

thanks for the help everyone much appreciated

so far i have not seen a lifan that will fit on a honda 90/110 motor,,,, the lifans are based off a 70 motor
