I'm trying to get the lights working on the X, but am having issues...

1st question. What voltage range should I be getting? 12v +/- what? 5V?

2nd. I pulled the stator cover, should there be oil in there? or should it be dry?

The wiring is good, the bulbs work, the switch is good. the bike runs good, just no lights. the stator shows about 300 ohms.

what else can I check?

Stator is wet, don't be worry. In honda shop manual they say for the lightning coil: The lamp coil is correct if there is continuity between the yellow and body ground. And for the exciting coil : The exciter coil is normal if there is continuity between the black/red and body ground, resistance: 100 - 400 ohms

On my previous 200x I have install a 200s lightning coil, bigger if my memory is correct.

200x lighting circuit is AC not DC. It is also unregulated. If you connect a DMM set to AC volts to the system and there is not a light connected to load the stator, you will see as much as 50 volts AC.

ok, so that makes sense. When I had a meter on it I was getting ~76V ac. I have ohmed out the wiring, all test good. even hooked up a 12v battery @ the stator connection and the lights work; but it will not work with the stator.. According to the book the resistance of the coil is ok, and I did see it output an unloaded voltage, so my guess is the stator is failing under load.

Anyone have a spare working 200x stator for cheap???
