The # on the motor is
KHIKX250CE005641
any idea on the year of this thing?
Got a weird clutch problem and am wondering if its the pushrod or something. I guess the 84 is different than the 85 and I dont know what im using. Need specs on the lengths of the pushrods for each year. Any difference in Clutch Baskets for the 84 or 85?

I think you can tell by the shift shaft assbly. According to Kawasaki.com owner info the 84 uses a shaft that is shaped differently. That's the only difference between the two I know of. I have only worked on 84 engines so I'm not 100% But I do remember ordering a shift shaft for an 85 and it turned out to be that wrong one.

the manny says that the pushrod is 1mm longer on the 85 then the 84 so they cant be interchanged. i believe one way of telling is by looking at the grooves in the clutch discs. the 84's all go the same direction and angle, the 85's are at different angles...if this helps. the clutch push rod, clutch release, and clutch springs do not interchange. hope this helps gary.

I appreciate the info. We keep going to finish a part of the project and it just keeps getting jammed up. Do you have the length of the 84 pushrod? I just dont see how one mm will make a difference. But who knows.

Does anyone know if the Barnett Clutch plates are thicker than stock? Or different widths for 84 to 85? Thx
