it won't work coming right out of the header. at least it didn't on my 200x with the older engine. then again...that engine shot more flames than a flame thrower.

I have always had great success with BBQ paint.

An I AM NOT A SPRAY BOMB FAN, but I do use it on my headpipes.....

I have had good results with BBQ paint as well as high temp exhaust paint... I wouldnt be surprised if the 500 degree paint holds up on a 2-stroke, but on a 4-stroke it will definately burn off..

I've had the same Walmart BBQ paint on the SX for years and it hasn't burnt off yet. I believe it was Krylon.....and aren't they good for like 2000 degrees?

BBQ paint is good stuff... Its at least 1200 degrees depending on the brand... I meant that the 500 degree engine paint wont hold up on a 4-stroke exhaust..

for my last pipe i built i had it done in high temp powder coat and it s held up better then any bbq or heat paint i ever tried on a 4 stroke.

its way way cheaper then jet hot ( which only lasts about 5-6 years on my buddys 350x ) but its more then a rattle can of paint.

I'm interested in the high temp powder coat? can anyone PCing do this--in other words, do they just have to use a special high-temp paint, or is it there a particular process involved? Need to get me pipes done too!

I won't claim to be a PC guy yet, but I did buy a can of Hi Gloss high temp powder from Columbia Coatings. Haven't tried it yet though......

So, I take it you just send your pipe to them and they do all the work? How much did it run?

try calling them and they will give you a price..if you can bead blast it clean it will be cheeper.. prices vary depending on size..

I have used Pj1 500 it dont hold up to long right next to the cylinder.. 1200 is better and holds up longer..

white lighting is far better and holds up to 3000 degrees

there open right now give em a call.

there the same company that ceramic coats all my pistons also

Oh wow, so it's a white coating?! Do you have any pics of this on your trike? It actually might look pretty cool with the color scheme I'm doing.

I used that 1200 degree rattle can on my x pipe and it did hold up nice. I HATE rattle cans but this does work. I used the high temp primer as well. Sh*t for 5 bucks it has lasted over a year, and the can is 60% full still. I do think the Z project will get ceramic coated and header wrapped for a sweet look

ATCT it actually looks like fresh bead blast..and it more silver-white

I have not had mine done yet but have seen headers done and they look freakin GREAT!

That is definitely good. I wonder if they'll knock out a ding I have in the pipe. I guess I can ask them when the time comes. Otherwise, I'll have to figure out how to do that.

I've always used high heat paint on the inside of my pipes to stop discoloration, white seems to work the best.
