Today I performed a compression test on my ytm-200. Take note that this engine is all original: ring, piston, head gasket, etc. After a couple pull of the rope I read the gauge and i was shocked. The engine had 155 psi of compression. Not too bad I guess for a 24 years old engine. I looked for my service manual to see the service limit but I didn't locate the book in the garage:mad:
Who else have an original trike engine and what is the compression??? Let start a compression war:naughty:

Thats good numbers no doubt. Where I am from we call the 200 yamies, "yellow hammers". I never had much luck with my 250 moto 4 but those 200e's. I know one that has gone thru about 10 owners and everything is destroyed on it but it runs like a new machine. The bike has been rolled crashed into a guardrail and much more. It wont die and the motor has never been touched. I am thinking about buying it and rebuilding the bike around the motor. It is painted a dozen colors and 3 odd tires, duct tape seat, but its reliable.

Hint for the engine to last, use 15W40 diesel engine oil. That's what we always used.

You use 15w40 on it! How come i have a 225dx and was wondering why you think that oil is better, i might have to try that. But isnt it too thick for these engines.

Yep, 15w40. Do you have winter in Illinois? If I let it outside during winter it is a real pig to start.
I think the manual call for 20w50 under certain temperature...
We use this weight of oil because we have 5 tractor and a pick-up and we buy oil by the barrel ( 55 gallons???)
