1982 honda atc 200e big red cdi

hi,

i took the cdi cover off my atc 200e and found metal shavings and loose insides so it is totally off timing does anyone know where it should be set?? also does anyone have any parts or like a ignition key switch or engine parts i am missing the key switch will that stop spark??

Not good to see metal shavings, either the stator or pulse generator came loose. Stator screws should be Loctited. See where they came from, dont want too much damage to the rotor that could cause it to fly apart when the engine is running.

it was the 2 philips screws that hold the round disc and thing that turns around on it was loose the round disc that has a slot in it and goes back and forth so it was just turning and scraping shavings off im assuming
