1984 tecate stator rewind

I know I can buy a Ricky stator.This is a spare.I unwound the bad side of the stator and I was wondering if the wire need's to be special other than coated and does anyone know where I can get some of that size wire or can it be close.I want to try to say I can do it.Any info would be appresated.There was a guy "challenger purple"that I seen on e-bay that rewound them cheap.I think I also seen him on the classified area here but for something differant.Later_John

I've always had mine rewound by Stator Corp. There's a few other companies that will rewind also. Last one I had rewound was in '99 and they charged me $75.

I don't know what wire to use to do it your self.
