the bearing carrier is the part where the axle gos through that holds the bearing right? if I have wobble here does that mean; my bearings are shot, I have a bad swingarm, or my axle is wore, if i take it apart are these bearings readily available and does it have to be specific to the 84 200x or will others interchange? I know its a little early to play 20?s I'll check back when i get off work. Thanks

Yup, bad bearings and if they are wobbling, its bad. As in bearings coming apart? Should be able to get the bearings at any industrial supply, I got every bearing in my R except one from industrial supplies.
Take out whats left of them and look for bearing numbers. The seals are gone by now, need new seals too.

I just rebuilt the entire rear axle on my 200s and all the parts are still available from Honda if you can't identify the bearings.
My trike sat for a long time and was rusted badly before I bought it. WD-40 and heat was the only way to get it apart and it was still tough. There was no way to identify the bearings when I got it apart.

My 200x was wobbly there too, I was sure it was the bearings but when I got it out it was actually worn bearing seats on the axle.

A good machine shop can repair the axle, but it would probably be cheaper to buy another one off e-bay. I know a shop here that repairs all kinds of shafts for electric motors, pumps, turbines and such, but at $85/ hour it would take a couple of hours to metal spray, machine & straighten and axle.

It's probably just the bearings.. get them from dads http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/member.php?u=691 All balls, best deal you'll find. I got front, rear, and steering stem from him for my 200e.

Almost every old 200X axle I have taken out, there is allot of wear on the axle surface and even new bearings won't tighten it up completely. When I reassemble a good axle and new bearings I use "open gear compound, or pure Moly paste" on the area of the axle where the bearing rides. It is the thickest nastiest paste like grease available. Nothing can penetrate it or disperse it, it lasts a long long time. If your gonna have it together for a long time, Bel ray or similar just pushes out and lets water in....
I have all the frame bearing kits for the 200x.
front axle, rear axle, swing arm, and steering stem.
will PM you the price of the rear kit.
thanks AL

I haven't taken it apart yet but when you hold where the grab bar goes and push side to side you can see the swingarm move on the axle

the main reason for axle damage is seized bearings....do not ride it till you get bearings.
when people ride with bad bearings and they lock up while moving the axle is still going to turn some and that is what screws them up
I haven't taken it apart yet but when you hold where the grab bar goes and push side to side you can see the swingarm move on the axle
when the bearings start to go, the axle moves. if the bearings go to hell the seal surface is the part that will get damaged. will be running metal to metal after it eats the rubber seal away
loose nuts will spin the axle in the bearings.
hope this helps.
