bought a 84 HONDA 110. the idiot before me had the motor apart and in place of the head gasket used a pice of plastic. One of the reasons he could'nt get it to run I guess?? My problem is he also broke one of the long cylinder studs. It has about 1" sticking out. I can not get it to budge. I tried heat, solvents, even welded a nut to the top for better leverage. I am afraid to apply to much heat to the area. Any sugestions??59367

Drill the center out, then collapse the threads. Sucks, but it works. Previous owner probably overtightened it.

Plastic? What an idiot!

Looks like it was rode hard and put away wet.

I'd still go with the welded nut and then hit it with an impact gun. Sometimes a quick hit with the gun in the tightening direction will break it loose. Reverse the gun and spin it out...

yah.. till it takes the threads with it.

Tap on the stud straight down a few times before turning It. Turn It both ways In & out. If It starts to turn then stops, turn It back In and spray some good penetrating oil on It. Work It back & forth or you will pull the threads out. I have gotten lucky and heated the stud, then let It cool down all the way and backed bolts right out. I know someone on here has talked about wax also, heat It up and force wax down around the bolt.

It worked on all four of my CR500 cylinder studs. If you're careful, the method works fine. :D

I just realized you said it was a long stud. I would pull the head and cylinder off, then maybe try a stud removal tool or even a small pipe wrench on it...
