Chassis no. question

I've been trying to read the chassis no. on the BigRed:confused: . The label says it's a '12/85 1986 model', but the number dosen't seem to correspond with the numbers in the 3WW spec guide.
The number I have is; JH3TE040 X G11230319. The only parts unclear from the chassis are the 'G11', could be 'GM'? and the final '9' looks almost hand written. Is this normal?:wondering
Any advice would be appreciated.

the 10th letter in correspondes to the year - your 10th letter is "G" thus making it a 1986 model.

B=1981
C=1982
D=1983
E=1984
F=1985

Thanks Tim, that was quick. I assume there is a whole code book of explanations of these letters?
