the 84 200s runs with AC or DC? If it runs AC do I need to buy some special light or can I slap a light from walmart on? I want to start riding at night. These may be stupid question but I have no idea.

shouldnt matter aslong as its a 12v light in the 40-60w range

I dont see a wiring diagram for the '84S, but here are the others:

http://www.3wheelerworld.com/WiringHonda.shtml

All vehicles (modern ones) use the same 12 volt lights. They just come in different packages and wattages. Motorcycles usually dont go over 50-60 watts. If the trike has a battery, then its DC, and any voltmeter can measure it. If not, its AC, and nothing you buy short of hundreds of dollars can read it.

It should have a battery, get an automotive or lawn tractor light. Just realize it wont last as long as the vibration will break the light bulb filament more quickly than on the highway./

If it has a battery, measure the battery voltage on IDLE, NOT revved up. The voltage must be 14 - 15 volts or the charging system is broken

Analog multimeter with an ac setting will read the voltage, there like $15

Analog meter will NOT READ the voltage, the wave shape is wrong.

The meter si designed to ONLY read 60 cycle AC, not the goofy shaped waves from vehicle stators.

Yes, itll read it, yes itll give wrong readings.
