what piston is this??? 200X

ok, i am just wondering what piston this is. i know it is for the 83-85 200X's. i dont think its a wiseco. the one on the left is the one im talking about. the one on the right is a oem replacement. Look at how much more “cut outs” the piston on the left has. what make piston is the one on the left? what is the compression ratio? Are these still produced? thanks.

Pro-X or WSM, possibly? Higher than stock compression? Possibly a 10.5 or 12:1.

looks like 12:1 to me. if you can clean it more and look for numbers it will be easier to tell. but looks like a wisco 12:1 to me

i put it up next to a wiseco 12:1 and the raised part on top is not as high as a 12:1. also, this has way more "cut outs" then a wiseco 12:1. thanks.

EDIT: only markings i could see on it was on the top it has "0.25" so i guess this a 25 over piston??? nothing else, no W for wiseco, does not say honda on it etc.

Looks just like a piston my friend had in before he fried his top end. Would a 12.5:1 kill a top end without using race fuel? I know it looked exacly like that and he was running just regular pump gas.

Super90, yes it most certainly would. 12.5:1 compression makes a hell of a lot of heat, and I can see it breaking/burning something if run on regular gas. It also may or may not have needed rejetting.

its not a pro-x.... it look like a aris (spelling) i had back in the 80s in my 200x

Looks just like the one we pulled out of my buddy's '81 200...we were wondering why the heck it was so dam hard to pull...well after about 3 starters I tore the baby apart and there it was...with a copper head gasket...I couldnt find any markings or anything other than "1.5" its a 66.5 mm...another buddy ran it for a while in his auto X on pump gas...it did just fine..didnt over heat or anything like that...

Yeah, that's an Arias 11:1, pretty sure of it. White Bros used to sell em. I've got an Arias piston very similar to yours going into my topend on my 86X. Except it's a 68mm making my X a 215. I could be wrong though, you can clearly read ARIAS under the dome of mine. Still, it looks real similar.

just look at it again, and like i said, the only marking is "0.25" on top of the dome. it does not say "ARIAS" or anything else under the dome. so its an arias 11:1 huh.
are these still produced for the 83-85 200X's? i checked www.ariaspistons.com and could not find anything.:wondering thanks.

i seen them for the 86-87. but i could not find any info if their made for the 83-85's.
also, could you run an arias 11:1 on 93 octane in an 84 200X? or do you have to run race gas or a mix of race gas and 93? thanks.

93 should be fine...if you want you could add a little octane boost for peace of mind.

Should is the key word. 11:1 is right on the edge for an air cooled engine. It wouldn't be too hard to make it ping on 93 and you can toss that additive crap out the door too. Far better off mixing then wasting money on that junk.

I'd go as close to 50/50 as I could myself.

I can read a plug, but I can't hear pinging on an small motor to save my life.

It's easy to hear an enclosed automobile engine when you lug it up a hill, but not so easy with these small single cylinder engines....

If you are running a stock cam or a well designed mod cam, you're motor will do just fine on 93 with 11:1. I've had a few heavily modded 200X. Don't use additives.

That piston is a an old Helm and Son cast piston. They were 10.5 to 1 compression.

Arias pistons are forged and you will generally see some machining around the gudgeon pin area. Can you see machining because I can't. Its not now a Helm and Son. It always has been.

took a quick look, and cant see any machining that i can pick out.
Were there any specific marks that helm and son put on their pistons?
Where would I look, because I looked all over and the only mark I saw was “0.25” on the top of the piston?
by any chance do they still make them for the 1st gen 200X? thanks guys.
