I believe so, I think the only difference in the drivetrain in the 2 machine's are the rear differential. The Big Red is geared lower.

I have found different gears within the tranny from an ES to an SX. I have both motors so I'm not blowing smoke. Whether it matters, IDK.... I know the ES runs different rear end gears and 25" tires so it may all go hand in hand.

I have the owner manuels to both machines the tranny gears are lower on the big red vs. the 250sx. The super low on the big red is 2.300 vs. 2.000 on thw sx. I have both of these machines as a matter of fact.

The TRX250 (like '86-ish) has the same motor too. Don't know what gears are in the tranny.

Would an 86sx motor go into my 85sx frame no problem? I have a cracked case and stripped drain plug. It needs a new timing chain and I don't feel like investing money into a motor with that many problems.

Cool i'm picking up a 86sx motor on sat. Also an 85 Big Red motor. Thats broken though.
