I have a 1985 honda 350x and use it stricktly for running the local river in the winter and am wondering what motor mods would be beneficial to me the trike is stock except for a full dg excellerator exhaust system I have put a 15 tooth front sprockrt on it and a rad rear bearing carrier other than that this thing is stock I was thinking a 10-25-1 wiesco piston with cam not sure whitch one and all new valves springs and retainers ECT>>> what i am trying to achieve is more speed with out loseing much bottom end. the river I run has tight woods style turns and also open sweeping corners that I can take at wide open right now. I am knocking on the back door of a lightly mod 400ex and would love to be able to go by with ease. Some times in early winter the river is glare ice and late there could be packed snow on it and right now is when i have trouble holding top speed
Really apperciate all your guys imput

10.25:1 wiseco, cam, k&n air filter should be good i think. you can also get a 12:1 piston, but you may have to run race gas. how much are you looking to spend total for performance?

I want to stay in that $500 dollar range and I would like to stay away from race gas

i think you should be fine with a 10.25:1 piston, cam, k&n air filter, and you already have the exhaust. maybe a carb also. see these sites

You will BARELY be able to do a cam, spring kit, piston, bore and harden the rockers for 500$ but thats the way to go.....

They make a nice middle of the road cam for the 350X and with a 10.25:1 you don't need race fuel. You can clean up the in and ex ports, put a 400EX carb on there, K+N filter and a Supertrapp exhaust or a modded 450R with HRC tip exhaust and expect some very nice gains.

it's pretty much exactly 500 bucks for reground rockers, have them redo your cam and new springs and such and a 10.25:1 wiseco. That's pretty much exactly what I'm going to do.

How does that 15 tooth sprocket treat you? gain a lot of topspeed?

the 15 tooth sprocket gained some speed but not quite enough to go around a lightly modded 400ex, I still wanted to be able to hold 6th gear in the snow otherwise I would have went bigger thats why i am looking for more power so i can sprocket up more and hold 6th and still have low end also

a piston yes, as far as performance parts.....sadly no. But, I am trying to open a megacycle account though. that will be SWEET.

dirt, it's exactly the same price to have your old rockers hard faced, as it is to buy new ones. like 56 dollars a piece. the difference of course being that 1 will last 20 years, and one will last 20 years with a highlift cam.

I have $400 in my modded 350x, and it has no problem with R's and a 400ex isnt even a race with it. Pm me if you want the down low. Ill tell ya what to do how to do it and give you the power exactly where you want it.
