so i'm working on a 84 200x and it will run when its cold, but when it gets warmed up it loses spark. i have noticed there is quite a bit of oil inside the stator cover and it covers up all that electrical stuff. i have also had a guy tell me that it could be the coil going bad. anyone had this problem before?

Yes, my bet would be your coils going out also. Same thing happened to my friends 84 200x. You can get brand new ones on ebay for cheap.

Sounds like a exciter coil issue ( part of the stator ). Easy fix ( IMO ).

well i put a new coil on it yesterday and couldnt get it to start so i had my buddy pull me on his and still couldnt get it to start. i had plenty of fire and gas. checked the compression...about 15 psi so i tore it down and have to get it in the machine shop monday for a new top end. then to make the weekend worse my buddy blew up his 250x 4-wheeler today, and we were supposed to go to wynoka next friday....
