Q : Tecate,Has anyone ever revamped the suspension on a stock chasis ?

I know alot of Tecate's are popping up now day's ,and most of them are beautiful machine's,but something I never see on these machine's is a redone suspension .I do see the rear shock conversion's,which seem to do justice (as far as I have read),but I'm talking about totally redoing the chasis.Has this been done by anyone?Any pic's? Does anyone have idea's on this subject? Just poking around...

CR480R has a KDX or KX linkage setup on his 84/85.

I think the T3 linkage works great as it is. All thats needed is a good shock.

The ltz/kfx 400's are too wide to fit the t3 frame... the carrier is also much too wide for proper chain alignment with a kx/kxt engine... an '85-'90 LT250 swingarm would be much closer, and nearly bolt in, chain alignment would be within .100"

I agree... I went the custom route because my linkage pivots were shot, my stock shock wasn't rebuildable, and my motor swap already required the use of a custom intake and exhaust set-up... I used a '91 kdx250 linkage, but I used a '98 kdx220 shock because it was slightly shorter and fit the frame better... IMO a fork swap would be more benificial

I agree with BGM. I have a Works Ultracross rear shock, built and set-up for my Tecate and my weight and it is amazingly good. Combine this with rebuilt front forks with Progressive springs and I'd put my Tecate's suspension up against any other T3 or even a Honda 250R...it's that good.

good info.. how wide is it exactly between the frame at the pivot point?
